Hey there!

I'm Victoria Rayburn.

And, I’m so glad you’re here! I’m a Lafayette, Indiana wedding photographer, marketing educator, believer, wife to my best friend, goldendoodle mama, black coffee drinker, and small business supporter.

I’ve secretly always wanted to be a photographer.

There’s a running joke in my family that my mom didn’t have to take photos of my brothers growing up because I did it for her. In fact, when I turned eight, my dad bought me my first camera because I was going through disposables WAY too fast.

As a kid and teenager, I always thought, “Wouldn’t it be so incredible to be a photographer?” But the practical side of me decided that wasn’t a good idea. As a creative person looking for a little more job stability, I majored in English with a concentration in marketing, with the intent of becoming a copywriter.

My marketing and copywriting background is exactly why I’m able to be a full-time photographer!

I started working in the marketing industry in 2012, and after our wedding in 2015, my wedding photographer asked if I would start second shooting for her. Later that year, I started my own photography business as a side hustle to have some fun while making a little money.

I spent three years working around the clock. From 9-5, I was Treefrog Marketing’s (a small business marketing agency I highly recommend) content director, and at night and on the weekends, I was shooting, editing, and not sleeping. It was time to make a career choice.

I chose photography, and I’m so glad I did!

Today,

I have two goals:

1.

To help brides & grooms remember how they felt on their first day as husband and wife.

After my faith, I treasure my marriage most. I feel incredibly blessed to be married to my best friend, and because I understand what a gift marriage is, it’s such a privilege to capture a couple’s first day as husband and wife.

If you’re a bride or groom looking for a Lafayette, Indiana wedding photographer (I’m based in Lafayette but happy to travel wherever!), I’d love to chat with you about your wedding photos!

2.

To teach photographers & creatives how to market themselves so they can live out their dreams too!

I firmly believe that my marketing knowledge is why I’m able to be a full-time photographer and entrepreneur. Because I know how to get my work in front of and speak to my best customers, I get to do what I love every day.

I’m living my best life (which usually includes working from home in leggings with Hattie—my mini goldendoodle—at my feet) and want to help you do the same!

1. I’m forever thankful to be married to my best friend, Zach.

If you watch The Office, our story is about identical to Jim and Pam’s. Zach and I met our junior year of high school and quickly became best friends.

While Zach’ll tell you that he knew right away that we’d someday be married, I had the same boyfriend all through high school. When said boyfriend and I broke up at the end of my senior year, Zach and I just hanging out somehow turned into dating. And, I’m so thankful it did!

We got engaged about a year and a half later (We were only 20!) and got married at age 21 (during my spring break because we didn’t want to wait any longer)!

While Zach’s my best friend, we also couldn’t be any more different. He’s musically talented; I’m tone deaf. He’s a great cook; I really hate cooking and would be fine to eat cereal. I majored in English because I love to read and am a grammar enthusiast; he rarely uses capitalization.

Zach makes life fun, joyful, and spontaneous. God gave me a husband who is everything I’m not but everything God knew I needed!

2. I’m mama to Hattie—our mini goldendoodle.

We don’t have kids yet, but we do have Hattie! Our 35-pound mini goldendoodle goes just about everywhere with me and is my best girl.

Hattie is the closest thing to a business partner I have. I mean, neither a photo is edited nor a blog post is written without my puppy girl by my feet!

These are a few of Hattie’s favorite things:

  1. Simon & Halle’s Pet Boutique (for grooming and everything else dog-related we need)
  2. Fluff & Tuff Dog Toys (She has Tina the alpaca and Elsie the elephant)
  3. Popcorn

See more of Hattie on Instagram! #theadventuresofhattierayburn

3. Hooray for small businesses!

Zach and I try really hard to support small businesses before big businesses. In fact, seven out of our nine grandparents, Zach’s dad, and I are entrepreneurs. As a result, we know firsthand that when you support a small business, you’re supporting a local family!

Don’t get me wrong; I love Target, Starbucks, and Amazon, but as a small business owner, I do my best to support other small businesses.

Check out my favorite small businesses in Lafayette, Indiana!

4. You can always find at least two books in my purse.

As a kid, I’d rather read than do just about anything else. As an adult, not much has changed. However, I’ve swapped Harry Potter for marketing and personal development books!

A few favorites I recommend:

  1. Building a StoryBrand by Donald Miller
  2. Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
  3. EntreLeadership by Dave Ramsey
  4. Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
  5. Crushing It by Gary Vaynerchuk
  6. Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk

5. Beverages of choice: black coffee, red wine, & La Croix.

While I’ll likely order a latte at a coffee shop, I drink my coffee black at home. During my senior year of high school, coffee was my saving grace between AP classes, cheer practice, and working part-time. I decided I should ditch the calories in creamer and never looked back!

While coffee is for the morning, red wine is for the evening. And, if you ask me, the drier the better, especially when you can have a glass of wine and a few pieces of dark chocolate!

I was late to the La Croix game, but since discovering it, it’s really hard to drink normal water. Sparkling Pamplemousse, please!

6. We binge watch The Office on repeat.

Zach says that when he gets to Heaven, the first thing he’s going to ask God is how many times we’ve watched The Office all the way through. We have no idea how many times it’s been, but we know the number is HIGH!

Zach and I actually became friends because of our love for the show. I should’ve realized he was the one when I was 17 and said, “This day is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S,” and he was the only one to get the reference.

7. I’m saved by Jesus Christ.

I believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins and that we are saved by his sacrifice. I’m always happy to talk about what this means. If you have questions about salvation, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
