When Cate told me that Conner had popped the question on his family’s lakefront property in Lafayette, Indiana and that they wanted to do their engagement photos there as well, I kept thinking, “Where are there lakefront properties in Lafayette?”
Boy was I surprised when I arrived to Conner’s parents’ house for Conner and Cate’s engagement session! I mean, this location, couple, and their pup were a dream, and I’m so excited to share Conner and Cate’s lakefront engagement photos in Lafayette, Indiana on the blog!
Conner & Cate met during Freshman Orientation at Purdue University.
When Conner and Cate started at Purdue, I think it’s safe to say that neither one of them thought that they’d meet the love of their lives so quickly, but it didn’t take long!
You see, during a Purdue-organized party during Freshman Orientation, Cate and Conner met and got to talking. And, before Cate left with her friends, Conner asked for her number. They began texting, talking, hanging out, and then dating.
And, now, they’re college sweethearts planning their big day!
Conner asked Cate to be his wife on his family’s lakefront property.
Now, Cate and Conner will tell you that Cate’s the organized one and Conner’s more spontaneous and go with the flow. (Cate and I have very similar personalities. I’m loving working with her!)
After graduating from college and moving all over Indiana for work, Conner and Cate began talking about marriage and decided to go look at rings to get some inspiration.
While looking at rings, Cate decided what kind of diamond she wanted (Just wait until you see her ring!) but not which band or how she’d like to have the ring set exactly.
Thinking there was lots of time before the question was popped, Cate’s plan was to take a little time to think. But, Conner—the spontaneous guy that he is—wanted Cate to officially be his fiancé.
So, without Cate knowing, Conner went back to the jewelry store the next day, purchased the diamond Cate had fallen in love with, and had it set in a simple band knowing that the diamond could be reset later.
And, that weekend (See! Conner was ready!) while Conner and Cate were enjoying a few minutes alone sitting by the lake behind Conner’s family’s house, Conner asked Cate to be his wife.
To commemorate their engagement, Conner & Cate decided to take their engagement photos on Conner’s family’s lakefront property in Lafayette, Indiana.
Considering Conner’s family’s property is beautiful and Conner and Cate’s epic proposal story, Conner and Cate decided that they wanted to take their engagement photos on the lakefront.
And, I’m so glad they did! I mean, this is what engagement photo dreams are made of!
During their session, Conner’s mom graciously gave me a tour of the property; Conner, Cate, and Sable (their sweet pup) let me drag them all over for photos; Nora (Cate’s sister) had treats read for Sable; and Conner’s dad drove us across the stream with his truck so we could get closer to the lake without having to drive far out of the way before the sun set.
These photos were a team effort and made me even more excited to (1) get Cate and Conner in front of the camera for their wedding photos and (2) meet the whole Rasche and Davis family!

Next May, Conner and Cate will become husband and wife at the gorgeous Lizton Lodge, and their light-and-airy, dusty-blue, and blush wedding will come to life with the help of Magical Moments Event Planning—one of my absolute favorite wedding planning teams.
After meeting these two in person, I have no doubt that their big day will be both fun and gorgeous, and I have a feeling that their dance floor is going to be packed!
