I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
As a wedding photographer, sometimes I meet couples and instantly know that I’m going to love working with them and that we’re going to be friends. And, Cayla Hawn and Cameron Spitznagle are definitely one of those couples!
Within minutes of our Google Hangouts call (I’ve been doing consults online due to COVID), I could tell Cayla was organized but fun and going to be a dream bride to work with. And, after meeting Cameron during their engagement session, I can confirm that he’s just as great!
I can’t wait for Cameron and Cayla’s wedding at The Brandywine next year, but for now, I’m so excited to share their private property engagement photos in Delphi, Indiana on the blog!
Long story short, Cameron and Cayla go way back. While they haven’t always known one another, they’ve always known of one another because Cameron and Cayla’s brother were good friends through school.
“What did your brother say when he found out you were dating?” I asked Cameron and Cayla during their engagement session.
“He was honestly really happy,” Cayla said. “He knew Cameron was a good guy!”
For the last three years, Cayla and Cameron’s relationship has included riding in their Polaris Ranger, spending time outdoors, playing with their two chocolate labs, and having friends and family over regularly to have a good time.
Now, it’s important to note that Cayla is very organized and perceptive. She knew a proposal was coming, but she had no idea that Cameron was going to pop the question during their 90’s party!
In February (before COVID), Cameron and Cayla decided to throw a 90’s party and invite their friends and family. When Cameron and Cayla throw a party, they go all out! So, Cayla didn’t think much of it when friends traveled from states away to attend their party.
Guests came dressed in 90’s attire (One friend even dressed up as Reba!) and ready to see their friends get engaged.
Cayla—who was dressed in a swishy sweatsuit—was having a great time catching up with friends and family and playing the hostess.
Then, in the middle of the festivities, Cameron let Cayla know he was going to thank everyone for coming. He got everyone’s attention, and while Cayla thought Cameron was simply going to say a few words, instead, he got down on one knee and asked Cayla to be his wife in front of their loved ones!
“You had no idea it was coming?” I asked Cayla.
“No!” she said. “I was wearing swishy pants for heaven’s sake!”
Cayla said yes, and thanks to Katey Roth (one of my summer interns), Cayla contacted me about photographing her and Cameron’s big day. I was excited about shooting their wedding before, but after their engagement session, I simply cannot wait for June 2021!
Wanting to choose a location that’s special to them, Cameron and Cayla decided to do their engagement photos in Delphi, Indiana on Cameron’s family’s farm. The Spitznagle family’s property is gorgeous and made the perfect engagement photo location!
As a wedding photographer, one of the biggest compliments I can receive from a groom is, “This isn’t so bad. In fact, it’s kind of fun!” And, during their session, this is exactly what Cameron told me! (He also said, “I’m glad you’re not a stick in the mud,” which I also took as a huge compliment coming from this fun-loving couple!)
Long story short, Cameron and Cayla are clearly the life of the party wherever they go; their engagement photos were a blast; and I have no doubt that their wedding and marriage are going to be amazing!
Next June, Cameron and Cayla will become husband and wife with a dusty blue and greenery-filled wedding at The Brandywine Inn & Suites in Monticello, Indiana. It’s going to be a fun, beautiful day. I have no doubt!
Cameron and Cayla, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer! I can’t wait to get you guys in front of the camera again for one of the happiest days of your lives!
I hope you love these previews from your engagement photos in Delphi, Indiana!
