A sweet but organized bride? A fun, go-with-the-flow groom? Perfect outfits? Beautiful Indianapolis? AND a goldendoodle?!
It doesn’t get any better than this, and I cannot imagine a better way to kick off the 2021 photo season than with Josh and Morgan’s engagement photos in downtown Indianapolis. And, I’m thrilled to share this sweet VRP bride and groom’s session on the blog!
During her senior year of college, Morgan decided to move back home and transferred to Ball State University. And, it’s a good thing she did, because that’s exactly how she met Josh!
Josh and Morgan were introduced by mutual friends and classmates. And, slowly but surely, this darling couple went from studying in the library together with mutual friends, to becoming friends themselves, to dating. And, now, they live in downtown Indy with their precious goldendoodle, Hoosier, and they’re getting married!
According to Josh and Morgan, they’re a great match because they bring one another balance. While Morgan is detail oriented and always thinking ahead (I swear she and I are practically the same person.), Josh goes with the flow and brings a sense of peace and humor to every situation.
Today, much of this Josh and Morgan’s time is spent soaking up Indianapolis—which they love. They regularly seek out restaurants with dog-friendly patios so they can take Hoosier along for date nights and love checking out local restaurants, breweries, and activities with friends and family.
Basically, I could not adore this couple anymore, and I’m so excited that they’re trusted me to be their wedding photographer!
Last fall, Morgan and Josh decided that they really wanted to have a few photos taken with Hoosier for Christmas cards. Josh’s sister, Sarah, agreed to take photos for them, and Josh knew that this was going to be the perfect way to pop the question without raising suspicion!
When Josh saw that the weather was going to be nice that weekend, he told Morgan that they should take the photos they’d been discussing. Morgan happily agreed—especially since she already had a hair appointment scheduled for that morning.
Looking back, Morgan says that she should’ve been suspicious when she got home from her appointment, because Josh was already dressed and ready for photos—hours early—which according to Morgan “never happens.”
Now, when Josh, Morgan, and Hoosier got to Eagle Creek Park, Josh became even more nervous because Morgan only had two wishes for their proposal:
However, because it was a surprisingly warm day for October, Eagle Creek was very busy, and as they walked to their photo location, Morgan remarked, “It’s really hot today.”
Josh was anxious and considered simply delaying the proposal, but with a little encouragement from Sarah (his sister and their photographer), Josh got down on one knee and asked his best friend to be his wife while the special moment was documented on camera.
And, Morgan said, “Yes!”
After this perfect proposal, Josh had one more surprise for Morgan. You see, he had arranged for their families and closest friends to meet up at Bad Axe Throwing for a bit of a surprise engagement party.
As you can imagine, Morgan was thrilled, and when I asked her about their proposal story, she said, “I seriously do not know how I got so lucky, and I cannot wait to marry Josh!”
Morgan had known the question was coming and knowing that 2021 was going to be a popular wedding year due to 2020 COVID wedding delays, Josh and Morgan got to planning right away.
Shortly after setting a date and booking their venue (The Biltwell), Josh and Morgan met with me via Google Meetings, and from our first conversation, I knew I was going to adore them both!
Wanting to have their engagement photos ready with plenty of time to spare to print their save the dates, Josh and Morgan decided to do their engagement photos in downtown Indianapolis in March.
They decided to shoot downtown because (1) they love their city and (2) Indianapolis’s gorgeous buildings would detract from the trees that hadn’t quite bloomed yet.
We started Josh and Morgan’s session by meeting at Monument Circle with their precious goldendoodle—Hoosier! As a goldendoodle mama myself, I was excited to meet Josh and Morgan’s sweet boy, and I was so impressed with how well Hoosier behaved, especially considering he’s just over a year old!
After taking photos at Monument Circle with Hoosier, Josh’s sister Sarah took Hoosier home, and Josh, Morgan, and I continued their engagement photos in downtown Indy. Josh and Morgan let me take them to the Indiana War Memorial, the Indianapolis Library, and a few spots in between.
And, I can honestly say that I loved every minute! Josh and Morgan are the kind of people you just want to hang out with. I cannot wait to have them in front of the camera again on their wedding day!
In October 2021, Josh and Morgan will become husband and wife with what Morgan calls a very “neutral” wedding. Morgan’s gals will wear sage, Josh’s guys will wear tan suits, and The Biltwell will be filled with greenery and white flowers.
Plus, The Biltwell is dog friendly, so there’s a good chance Hoosier will be making an appearance!
Josh and Morgan, congratulations on your engagement! I could gush about how great you are forever. But, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer. I cannot wait for your big day!
In the meantime, I hope you love these previews from your engagement photos in downtown Indianapolis!
