The words that come to mind when I think of Quin and MaryGrace? Oh-so “sweet” and also very “practical.”
Wanting to take their engagement photos sooner rather than later and not wanting to freeze too much while having them taken, Quin and MaryGrace (who also goes by Grace) traveled two hours south so that we could shoot their engagement photos at a beautiful, indoor location with lots of natural light (which is one of the keys to light and airy photos).
This darling couple is impossible not to adore, and I’m so excited to share Quin and Grace’s winter Laurel Hall engagement photos in Indianapolis on the blog!
Just a few years ago, Quin and Grace knew “of” one another while attending Loras College in Iowa. They were both athletes, had mutual friends, and their paths crossed pretty regularly.
Then, they matched on Tinder, and it didn’t take either of them long to realize that they’d found “the one.”
Grace and Quin matched and started dating in 2018 and enjoyed their remaining college days together. And, since then, they’ve done and accomplished a lot. You see, in the last few years this hard-working couple moved to Monticello, Indiana (where Grace’s family is from); started careers; welcomed their baby girl into the world; and purchased a house.
I’m sure their friends and family cannot wait to celebrate Grace and Quin, all they’ve accomplished, and the family they’ve created at their Purdue Memorial Union wedding this spring. I know I can’t!
With a home and a baby girl, Grace and Quin had certainly talked about marriage, and Grace knew a proposal was coming. Yet, Quin still managed to completely surprise Grace.
Shortly after they purchased their home, Grace spent an afternoon shopping and hanging out with her sister-in-law. While they were out, Grace got a call from Quin saying he needed another set of hands for a home renovation project he was working on.
At the time, Grace and Quin were in the process of several projects in their new home, so Grace wasn’t the least bit suspicious, and she and her sister-in-law drove to the house.
When Grace went inside, however, she couldn’t find Quin. Eventually, she tried the backyard, and when she opened their backdoor, she found Quin standing under the gazebo in their backyard with more than 100 roses and candles.
Quin asked Grace to be his wife where they were already sharing their life. And, if you ask me, Quin’s proposal could not have been more perfect!
After Grace said “yes,” the newly engaged couple headed to Grace’s parents’ house, where Quin had arranged for them to celebrate with family—which Quin and Grace value more than anything.
Way to go, Quin! You deserve major props!
With 2022 being a very popular year for weddings and Grace and Quin knowing that The Purdue Memorial Union would be the ideal venue for their large guest list, Grace and Quin found themselves getting married sooner than expected simply due to dates available.
Quin proposed in summer 2021, and Grace and Quin will become husband and wife in spring 2022. As a result, they’ve had to do some pretty quick wedding planning. Grace and Quin booked their wedding photography package right before Christmas, and with their big day quickly approaching, they decided winter engagement photos would work best for them.
Now, usually, winter engagement photos tend to look pretty gray and sad in Indiana, but because Grace and Quin made a great location choice, that is NOT the case for their photos.
Wanting to be able to be warm for much of their session and to have beautiful architecture that would detract from the bare trees, Grace and Quin decided to take their engagement photos at Laurel Hall in Indianapolis.
This gorgeous, historic Indianapolis wedding venue allows their property and grounds to be rented for photo sessions. And, with so much natural light in Laurel Hall’s solarium, Laurel Hall is the perfect spot for winter engagement photos!
We started Quin and Grace’s shoot in the solarium so they could get comfortable in front of the camera while also staying warm. Then, we popped out front of Laurel Hall for a few more photos, warmed up inside, and finished Quin and Grace’s winter Laurel Hall engagement photos on the back of the property, where the iconic Laurel Hall stairs are located.
We weren’t outside for too long, but it was certainly chilly, and Grace and Quin were such good sports about it. In fact, Quin kept saying, “This weather’s great. I’m ready for a glass of lemonade!”
Grace and Quin, thank you for being so positive in the cold, willing to travel for your engagement photos, picking a warm photo location, being so much fun to work with, and trusting me to be your wedding photographer.
I cannot wait to celebrate the two of you this spring during your Purdue Memorial Wedding, but until then, I hope you love these previews from your winter Laurel Hall engagement photos in Indianapolis!
