I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
When your wedding theme is “enchanted forest,” you almost have to take your engagement photos at a magical location and use your session as another reason to debut your wedding color palette. Am I right?
While I cannot wait for Taylor Gillenwater and Scott Freidel’s 2023 wedding at The Historic Saint Joseph Hall in downtown Indianapolis, I’m so excited to share their jewel tone engagement photos at Newfields on the blog!
Before you check out Scott and Taylor’s engagement photos, I can’t help sharing a bit of their love story with you.
You see, back in 2017, Scott and Taylor worked at the same company, but they’d never met. (He’s an engineer, and she’s a financial analyst, so they worked in different departments.)
Wanting employees to have an opportunity to meet and let loose, the company planned a networking event at a local bar with food, drinks, and outdoor games.
While it was a good time, it was extremely hot that day, so Taylor and a friend decided to hide inside and get a drink.
As they stood in line and chatted, Scott also joined the line, which prompted Taylor’s friend to ask, “Taylor, have you met Scott?”
The mutual friend introduced Scott and Taylor, and the three spent the rest of the networking event in the AC chatting over beers.
Over the next few months, Scott and Taylor became work friends. While they worked in different departments, they and a handful of others started eating lunch together regularly and hanging out outside of work as a group.
While Scott and Taylor were both interested in one another, it was Scott who made the first move. You see, one night, Scott, Taylor, and their work friends went to see a movie, and when they got back to the parking lot, Scott’s car wouldn’t start. Since Taylor happened to live in the same apartment complex, she offered to drive Soctt home.
Then, for the next three months, Taylor took Scott to and from work every day; they went grocery shopping together; and Scott’s “lack of car” and Taylor’s generosity resulted in them doing almost everything together. (Scott, was your car actually still not working? I’m dying to know!)
In February 2018, Scott and Taylor made things official. But, just three months later, Taylor moved to Philadelphia. For three years, Scott and Taylor did long distance before both relocating to Cincinnati, which is where they now call home and where they got engaged.
At the beginning of 2022, Scott and Taylor had been together for five years, were living in the same city, and had certainly talked about marriage and rings. As a result, Taylor knew that Scott would be popping the question soon, but she had no idea how soon and is still very impressed that Scott managed to plan such an epic proposal without raising any suspicions.
In January 2022, Scott suggested that he and Taylor invite some friends to celebrate the Chinese New Year in downtown Montgomery, Ohio. Scott and Taylor are very social, so Taylor didn’t think twice about this suggestion and looked forward to a night out with friends.
Scott, Taylor, and their friends grabbed dinner and then had plans to walk to a bar. As they walked, they came across a pretty path with a lit archway, and one of their friends suggested that they take photos underneath it.
While Taylor was happy to grab a few photos, she’ll admit that she was getting a little impatient, because it had just snowed, and she was freezing.
Scott and Taylor grabbed a few group photos with their friends, and while Taylor was ready to move on, one of their friends said, “Okay. Now, Scott and Taylor, let’s take some of just you guys.”
Taylor was ready to say that that wasn’t necessary; she just wanted to be warm. However, their friends insisted, and as Scott and Taylor posed for a picture, Scott got down one one knee, and their friends captured the sweet moment on both photo and video!
While Taylor was thrilled and couldn’t have been more surprised or thrilled by Scott’s proposal, Scott’s proposal wasn’t over quite yet. You see, when they got to the bar, even more friends were waiting to celebrate with Scott and Taylor!
Then, when they got home after a truly wonderful evening, Taylor arrived at her apartment to discover rose petals throughout her home, 100 roses on the table, and champagne! Scott and Taylor lit a fire in the fireplace and just let the excitement of the evening and the life they were starting together sink in.
In May 2023, Scott and Taylor will become husband and wife with an enchanted-forest-themed wedding at The Historic Saint Joseph Hall in downtown Indianapolis. Their celebration will feature emerald, plum, and magenta with other jewel tones and gold accents.
Their wedding day will certainly be beautiful, and because Scott and Taylor are so in love with their wedding color palette, they decided to make their engagement photos consistent with their wedding theme and take jewel tone engagement photos at Newfields.
And, guys, I cannot wait for you to see Scott and Taylor’s photos! Newfields was the perfect location for their session, and I’m so glad that Scott and Taylor were willing to make the trip from Cincinnati to make these photos possible.
Scott and Taylor, I was excited about your wedding before. But, now, I cannot wait to get the two of you in front of the camera again! Zach and I loved hanging out with you and finally getting to meet you both in person. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer.
Your full gallery will be ready very soon, but in the meantime, I hope you love these previews from your jewel tone engagement photos at Newfields!
I know Scott and Taylor wanted to keep their engagement photos consistent with their wedding theme. I’m so glad Scott and Taylor decided to take their engagement photos at Newfields, because this location was absolutely perfect for their theme! Typically, I recommend wearing light and pastel colors for engagement photos, but I’m so glad Taylor decided to wear jewel tones. Doesn’t she look amazing?! Newfields is one of my very favorite places to take engagement photos in Indianapolis. Check out other engagement photos at Newfields!
