When you get engaged at one of your favorite places, it only makes sense to come back a few months later to take your engagement photos at the same location. And, now, I’m so excited to share Cassie Arboleda and Micahel Bramer’s engagement photos at Newfields in Indianapolis on the blog!
Back in 2017, Michael and Cassie were students at the University of Louisville and were both part of the school’s Catholic campus ministry. With their involvement with Interfaith Center, they had several mutual friends and their social circles slowly but surely began to overlap. In fact, Cassie was already good friends with Micahel’s roommates before she and Michael had even met.
Before the school year officially began, Cassie’s roommate at the time hosted an event for all individuals involved with the Interfaith Center. This is when Cassie, Micahel, and their roommates realized that they were going to live right across the street from one another that school year.
For the next couple months, this resulted in Cassie, Michael, and their roommates hanging out pretty frequently and in Cassie and Michael realizing how similar their interests and passions were.
Two months after becoming neighbors and spending much of their time together, Michael and Cassie went on their first official date, which included dinner at The Old Spaghetti Factory, dessert, and seeing a movie.
According to Michael and Cassie, their first date was a “formality.” At this point, there was no doubt in their minds that they were a great match, and they were excited to transition from friendship to dating.
Over the next couple years, Cassie and Micahel enjoyed exploring Louisville together. They both love art, good food, and experiencing new things, and they quickly found that getting to enjoy their hobbies and passions with one another only made these experiences better.
Since 2017, Cassie and Micahel have been committed to enjoying life together, pushing one another to grow, and supporting one another—which included relocating to Indianapolis. And, now, they’re getting married!
When Michael planned his proposal to Cassie, there was no doubt in his mind where he wanted to ask his best friend to be his wife: Newfields.
Michael and Cassie have spent countless hours at this museum viewing its art collection, walking the grounds, and attending special events and exhibitions. It’s one of their favorite places to spend time together, and as a result, it made the perfect place to propose.
Wanting to see The Lume’s new Monet and Friends Alive exhibit (which is incredible by the way), Micahel and Cassie planned to spend a day checking out the exhibit, visiting the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and walking Newfields’ gardens.
So that the special moment could be documented, Michael had chosen the spot in the gardens where he wanted to propose and had arranged for Cassie’s best friend to hide nearby and take photos. However, the rain threw them for a loop.
While Michael and Cassie were in the museum, Michael and Cassie’s friend were trying to quickly come up with a plan B. Cassie’s friend searched for the perfect spot and found that a lovely bridge at the entrance to the garden was covered with trees just enough to stay pretty dry.
After seeing the exhibit, Cassie was pretty sure that walking the grounds was out due to the weather, so she was very surprised when Michael more or less insisted they visit the gardens.
They made it to the bridge (which is pretty much just outside the door of the museum), and Cassie more or less told Micahel, “I’m sorry, but the weather is just too gross for this.”
To this, Michael responded with, “That’s okay,” as he got down on one knee and Cassie’s friend managed to capture the surprise on camera!
Considering how much Michael and Cassie enjoy Newfields and how it was the location of their engagement, they decided to take their engagement photos at Newfields in the spring. And, I have to say, their session was perfect!
I mean, the weather was lovely (Thankfully, there wasn’t a drop of rain this time!); Cassie and Michael looked wonderful (I swear Cassie’s dress couldn’t have matched the spring florals more perfectly.); and Cassie and Michael bring out the best in one another.
Personally, I enjoyed every second of having this oh-so-sweet VRP bride and groom in front of the camera and getting to wander both the gardens and outside of the Lilly House with them, and I’m so excited to share just a handful of my favorites from their session!
Micael and Cassie, I was excited for your big day before, but now, after your engagement photos, I cannot wait to get you in front of the camera again for your wedding at The Crowne Plaza and Historic Union Station!
I have so enjoyed getting to know the two of you over the last few months, and I’m very thankful that your wedding planner—Lora of Magical Moments Event Planning—introduced us and that you’ve trusted me to be your wedding photographer.
Your full gallery will be ready very soon, but in the meantime, I hope you love these previews from engagement photos at Newfields!
