As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
From their absolutely perfect outfit choices to the way these two clearly light one another up on the inside, Alex and Casey’s engagement session was a DREAM! I mean, I’d relive this session every day if I could!
But, since Alex and Casey probably don’t want to be in front of my camera every day, I’m so excited to share their engagement session at Fairfield Lakes Park in Lafayette, Indiana on the blog!
Now, before we get to their photos, picture-perfect outfits, and some of the most genuine smiles I’ve ever had the opportunity to photograph, I can’t help sharing a little bit of Alex and Casey’s story with you!
When we met for coffee, I asked Alex and Casey how they met. And, Casey responded with, “Well, technically we met in the back of a van!”
I was confused, but fortunately, Alex and Casey went on to explain that a couple years ago, a mutual friend planned a trip to Nashville, and Alex and Casey were both invited.
They had a great time in Music City, and when the trip was over, Alex wasn’t ready to be done hanging out with Casey. So, he got Casey’s number from the friend who planned the trip.
Since then, these two have been side by side laughing and having a good time wherever they go!
Fun fact: Alex and Casey decided on forever on September 23, 2018, and they had their engagement photos taken on September 23, 2019. How sweet is that?!
A little more than a year ago now, Alex and Casey were visiting Alex’s family in Flora, Indiana. And, Alex asked Casey if she wanted to go for a walk.
Alex and Casey love being outdoors, so Casey wasn’t too suspicious about this question.
So, Alex and Casey headed over to Culter, Indiana to walk a path/trail that Alex really likes. While they were walking, Alex got down on one knee and asked his best friend to be his wife!
In the meantime, Alex’s sisters—Kate (a 2019 VRP bride) and Jessie—were hiding and caught the whole thing on camera!
Casey, of course, said yes! And, Alex and Casey will become husband and wife in May 2020!
Now, I have to say that as a wedding photographer, one of my favorite things about a wedding day is spending time with the bride and her bridesmaids.
I mean, a wedding day for me is essentially a girls’ day with camera in hand. What’s better than that?!
And, this is exactly how I met Casey!
Casey was one of Kate’s bridesmaids this past June and was so helpful and thoughtful all day long that I instantly fell in love with her!
On Shane and Kate’s wedding day, I later discovered that Casey was engaged and that her fiancé was Kate’s brother Alex!
The whole Hickner family is amazing, and while I certainly wasn’t going to give a sales pitch at a wedding, I secretly hoped Casey and Alex would contact me about wedding photos. And, I’m so glad they did a few days after Shane and Kate’s big day!
Wanting to have their engagement session in the great outdoors, Alex, Casey, and I decided that Fairfield Lakes Park would be the perfect spot. And, like I said before, their session was a dream!
I mean, Alex and Casey laugh and joke wherever they go, so they had absolutely no problem giving genuine smiles in front of the camera. They’re such joy-filled people, and I think you can see that in their engagement photos!
In addition to being giggly and fun, Alex and Casey also did an incredible job choosing outfits! I mean, their outfits—especially their more formal outfits—are the peak of outfit goals! Just wait until you scroll and see the photos!
And, I also want to commend Alex and Casey for making their engagement photos a special event, not just an item on their to-do list. You see, Alex and Casey took two days off of work in honor of their engagement photos!
The day of their session, they went and visited Alex’s family, went out for lunch, and just enjoyed being together. After their session, they went out for dinner. And, the next day, while they did have a few appointments, they also got to relax together.
Engagement photos are part of the wedding planning experience, and I’m so glad that Casey and Alex chose to soak up this special time!
I’m hoping winter goes by quickly, because I can’t wait for Alex and Casey’s big day in May 2020!
This darling couple will become husband and wife at Saint John Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, which is also where Casey’s parents got married! Then, they’ll celebrate their marriage with a reception at the Barn at Bay Horse Inn in Greenwood, Indiana.
Alex and Casey, I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for the two of you! I have no doubt that your marriage will be full of laughter and incredible memories!
Thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer. I hope you love these previews from your engagement session at Fairfield Lakes Park!
When I posted previews from Alex and Casey’s session, lots of ladies asked where Casey got her dress. In case you love her dress too, she got her lovely gown from The Dainty Hooligan!
