A couple who lights one another up from the inside out PLUS their sweet pup?! Engagement sessions don’t get any better than this, and I’m so excited to share Tim and Victoria’s engagement photos in downtown Crown Point, Indiana on the blog!
It’s funny to think that less than two years ago, Tim and Victoria were both casual Tinder users. They both checked the app occasionally but didn’t really think much of it until they managed to match not once, not twice, but THREE times on Tinder!
Deciding the app might be onto something, Victoria messaged Tim and told him to text her.
They scheduled their first date at Tavern on Main in Crown Point, Indiana (You’ll find photos of these two in front of their first date spot below!) and hit it off instantly. They discovered that they both loved craft beer, appreciated art, and shared a handful of other interests. They also found out that they’d both lost a parent. (Victoria’s dad and Tim’s mom are no longer with us.)
Between common interests, being able to understand one another’s hardships, and having personalities that fit together seamlessly, Tim and Victoria connected like they’d never connected to anyone else and quickly went from casual Tinder users to being in a serious, committed relationship.
And, just six months later, they were engaged!
I’ve actually known Victoria for about eight years. She was a couple years ahead of me at Saint Joseph’s College. We took art classes together and both worked in the admissions office. She was also my TA for a summer class and never ratted anyone out for having pizza delivered while the professor lectured remotely via Google Hangouts.
Because I’ve known Victoria so long, I can attest to the fact that she’s always the life of the party. But, she likes to have a plan and know what’s going to happen next.
So, when Tim told Victoria he wanted to take her on a surprise date in April 2019, she was anxious. And, in her words, she was a “brat” about it.
While Victoria was throwing a bit of a fit in the living room, Tim handed her a box wrapped in dinosaur paper. She opened the box to find a James Charles makeup palette, which she’d been wanting.
According to Victoria, she thought to herself, “Wow. I’m being such a jerk, and he’s still so sweet and good to me!”
Then, Victoria opened the palette, and inside, she found bold shades of eyeshadow AND a note that read, “Will you marry me?”
When she looked up, Tim was on one knee.
Between a big project at work that needed Tim’s attention, Victoria’s need for an emergency gallbladder surgery, and the coronavirus, Tim and Victoria’s engagement session had to be rescheduled a few times. But, we were finally able to get their photos in, and if you ask me, their session was worth the wait!
We started Tim and Victoria’s engagement session at their house so Kane—their sweet pup—could be included in a few photos.
If you’ve followed me for any time at all, you know that we include Hattie (our dog) in all of our family photos. So, I am THRILLED when couples say they want to include their pup!
Kane is such a sweet, loving dog, but I think it’s safe to say that he’s an even bigger baby than he is a dog. And, he’s a BIG pup!
Tim and Victoria told me that they tried to wear him out before photos began so he would be calm. They wore him out so much that this sweet boy couldn’t stay standing. He just wanted to lay down! I had to include a few behind the scenes photos below so you can see what I mean!
But, he did really well, and I’m so glad Tim and Victoria decided to include Kane in their engagement photos!
After taking photos with Kane, we took the rest of Tim and Victoria’s engagement photos in downtown Crown Point, Indiana around the square.
This is such a cute town with countless small businesses, and Tim and Victoria let us drag them all over!
Shooting in downtown Crown Point was especially fitting for Tim and Victoria. After all, this is where they had their first date and where they spend a lot of their time together and hanging out with friends. (Well, they did before the coronavirus!)
Side note: We ran into several people Tim and Victoria knew. They’re obviously very loved in their town! But, when someone put down their window and shouted, “Hi, Victoria!” as they drove by, I panicked for a second, because I had no idea who it was. For a split second, I forgot I wasn’t the only Victoria present!
Tim and Victoria will officially become husband and wife on October 10, 2020 (the most coveted wedding date of the year) at eMbers in Rensselaer, Indiana. (This happens to be where Zach and I had our reception!)
Rather than doing all of the typical traditions, they plan to celebrate with an all-night cocktail party where the food and dancing never stop! And, knowing these two, I have no doubt that it’s going to be amazing!
Tim and Victoria, I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am for the two of you (and Kane) or how honored I am to be your wedding photographer.
I hope you love these previews of your engagement photos in downtown Crown Point, Indiana, and I cannot wait to celebrate your marriage this fall! Congratulations, future Mr. and Mrs. Haan!
Isn’t Kane such a handsome pup?! I LOVE when couples include their dogs in their photos!
Poor guy just wanted to lay down!
By the way, these are engagement photo outfit goals right here! Tim and Victoria looked amazing!
They just beam!
Since Tim and Victoria’s first date was at the Tavern on Main, photos in front of this restaurant—which happens to also be their favorite restaurant and where they planned to eat dinner after their engagement photos—were in order!
