I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s an honor to take engagement photos for all VRP couples. But, I have to say that it was a particular honor to be trusted to take Jasmine Norris and Eric Altman’s engagement photos at Wildcat Creek Reservoir Park in Kokomo, Indiana.
You see, not only is Jasmine a close friend of mine, but she is a wedding photographer whom I have a ton of respect for. (Be sure to check out Jasmine Norris Photography!) I mean, not only is her work beautiful, but Jasmine is the queen of systems, organization, getting published, and countless other things within our industry.
Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Jasmine to host The In Focus Marketing Summit, and I know Victoria Rayburn Photography would not be where it is today if Jasmine weren’t in my life.
While I could gush about Jasmine forever, I’m so glad that this sweet friend met Eric, and I’m thrilled to share their engagement photos at Wildcat Creek Reservoir Park in Kokomo, Indiana on the blog!
I know I’ll never forget hearing about Eric for the first time. You see, in 2021, Jasmine shot a styled shoot for WeddingDay Magazine, and the planner (Felicia of Emerald Lotus Events whom Jasmine and I both adore) asked Zach and I if we’d be the models for the shoot.
When it was time to put the dress on, I asked Jasmine if she’d help me. As she zipped me up, she told me, “I met someone.”
And, honestly, the look on Jasmine’s face was all I needed to know!
Eric and Jasmine’s first date was at Hacienda in Kokomo, Indiana. This happens to be Jasmine’s very favorite restaurant, so it’s a good thing that the date went well!
From their very first date, it was clear to both Eric and Jasmine that they were a perfect match. I mean, they’re both self employed. (Jasmine is a wedding photographer, and Eric is a German translator.) They both value travel. They both appreciate good food—whether that means going out or making something fancy at home. They have a shared passion for purchasing art. They both love their pets like they’re their children. And, they both enjoy a good cigar.
Basically, Eric and Jasmine complement one another well and support one another endlessly. As Jasmine’s friend, I wasn’t surprised to hear that they were talking about marriage after just a few months of dating.
Now, when you work in the wedding industry, planning your own wedding is difficult. After all, you’ve seen tons of venues; you’re familiar with countless wedding photographers; and “wedding season” is already busy for you.
With this in mind and because Eric and Jasmine knew they wanted to get married sooner rather than later, they went ahead and started planning. They chose their date, venue, and photographer. And, in the meantime, Eric waited for Jasmine’s ring to arrive, and Jasmine waited for Eric to pop the question.
Eric is a very thoughtful person, and he wanted to pick the perfect date and ask in exactly the right way. He had multiple proposal ideas, but, ultimately, I think he landed on the perfect proposal for him and Jasmine.
On an evening in October 2021, Eric and Jasmine were enjoying a night in. They’d made dinner at home and then snuggled up on the couch to watch TV in their PJs.
When Eric got up, Jasmine didn’t think anything of it. But, when he came back into the living room, Eric got down on one knee and asked Jasmine to be his wife. And, she said, “Yes!”
This darling couple will become husband and wife this September by eloping in Mackinaw City, Michigan along the water—which is the place Eric and Jasmine took their first big trip together.
Their wedding will be perfectly them and give them time to relax and celebrate before coming home to Jasmine’s busy, fall wedding season.
Jasmine obviously shoots a lot of engagement photos herself. As a result, she and Eric really wanted to choose a location for their photos that was different and would be special and unique to them.
With this in mind, Eric and Jasmine decided to take their engagement photos at Wildcat Creek Reservoir Park in Kokomo, Indiana. While Jasmine may’ve agreed to this location because she knew they could go to Hacienda after, this beautiful park was perfect for engagement photos!
Also, I have to mention that Eric and Jasmine dressed FLAWLESSLY for their shoot! I mean, I still can’t get over Jasmine’s first dress especially—which is perfectly her. And, if you know this amazing woman, you know she showed up in Louboutins! (Eric, you looked great too!)
Eric and Jasmine, from the bottom of my heart, I couldn’t be happier or more excited for the two of you. It’s clear that you’ve each found your perfect match, and as your friend, I’m loving witnessing the two of you do life together and support one another.
Thank you for trusting me to take your engagement photos. I can honestly say that being trusted to take these photos was one of the biggest honors of my photography career. I cannot wait to share your full gallery with you, but for now, I hope you love these previews from your engagement photos at Wildcat Creek Reservoir Park in Kokomo, Indiana.
Talk about engagement photo outfit goals! Don’t these two look amazing?! I’m just so excited for these friends and the life they’re already sharing. Peep the red bottoms! When you bravely wear Louboutins through the grass, you have to make sure they’re highlighted in photos!
