Have you ever met someone that’s so kind and full of joy that you look forward to every interaction you get to have with them? Well, both Josh Copeland and Tammy Mels radiate joy wherever they go. And, now, this amazing couple is getting married!
I’m so excited to share Josh and Tammy’s fall engagement photos at Wea Creek Orchard in Lafayette, Indiana on the blog!
Josh and Tammy have Courtney, Josh’s sister-in-law’s sister and Tammy’s former roommate, to thank for their relationship.
You see, less than two years ago, Courtney knew that Josh and Tammy were meant to be. She told them both about the other, and knowing that Josh and Tammy would meet at Courtney’s graduation since they were both attending, Courtney looked forward to setting Josh and Tammy up.
However, after hearing so much about Courtney’s amazing roommate, Josh couldn’t wait and asked if he could get Tammy’s number. Tammy said it was fine if Courtney shared her number, and a few minutes later, Courtney received a text saying, “How much does a polar bear weigh?”
Before Josh could finish his “corny” pickup line, Tammy looked up how much polar bears weigh and gave him the averages for both males and females.
Loving her fun, sarcastic nature already, Josh was so glad he asked for Tammy’s number, and he and Tammy continued texting and getting to one another. They officially met 11 days later at Courtney’s graduation—where Tammy not only met Josh but also some of his family.
After the graduation festivities, Josh and Tammy decided to play frisbee golf and just hang out. By the time all was said and done, Josh and Tammy’s first date was 11 hours long!
The next few months included meeting one another’s families (Family is so important to both Josh and Tammy. In fact, they have so many nieces and nephews that they’re going to have NINE ring bearers and flower girls!), exploring burger joints, and doing anything that allowed Josh and Tammy to compete against one another.
As it turns out, Courtney was right. Because, just six months after their first date, Josh and Tammy were engaged!
It didn’t take long for both Josh and Tammy to decide that they wanted to spend their lives together. So, they certainly talked about marriage, but Tammy had no idea that Josh was going to pop the question on their six-month dating anniversary!
Josh made dinner reservations at an upscale restaurant and booked a photo session because, as he told Tammy, “We don’t have enough cute pictures.”
Tammy thought this sounded like a fantastic way to celebrate six months of dating, and while she was a little suspicious, she didn’t think too much about it until they got to their photo location.
Josh drove Tammy to a local park where his sister-in-law had decorated a bridge with Christmas lights. And, on the beautifully decorated bridge in November 2019, Josh asked Tammy to be his wife.
In the meantime, Josh’s sister-in-law captured the special moment with her camera. Josh and Tammy clearly have amazing families who love these two fiercely!
Tammy said yes, and now, Josh and Tammy are planning a February 2021 wedding!
Originally, Josh and Tammy had booked my good friend Sarah Cadwell of Sarah Elizabeth Photos as their wedding photographer.
However, Sarah found out she was expecting a baby and is due one day after Josh and Tammy’s big day! Deciding that her due date was far too close for comfort, Sarah introduced me to Josh and Tammy. And, now, I have the pleasure of being Josh and Tammy’s wedding photographer!
Although they had already taken engagement photos with Sarah, Josh and Tammy agreed to meet up with me for fall engagement photos at Wea Creek Orchard in Lafayette, Indiana. (I include complimentary engagement photos in all wedding photography packages because I believe engagement sessions can help couples feel more comfortable in front of the camera on their wedding day.)
And, these two are such a good time! Like I said before, I’m convinced that Josh and Tammy spread joy and laughter wherever they go!
I have no doubt that their wedding will be a good time or that the life they share will be full of fun!
On February 6, 2021, Josh and Tammy will get married at Orland Park Christian Reformed Church and then celebrate at Elements by The Odyssey in Orland Park, Illinois.
Their reception may move due to COVID restrictions, but Josh and Tammy cannot wait to be married and will become husband and wife on their original date no matter what.
Josh and Tammy, I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am for the two of you or how thankful I am that Sarah’s little blessing allowed me to meet the two of you!
Congratulations, and I hope you love these previews from your fall engagement photos at Wea Creek Orchard in Lafayette, Indiana!
