I’m going to try not to tear up writing this blog post, but I’m not sure if that’s going to be possible.
Photographing this moment for one of my very favorite VRP brides and grooms and their families was one of the biggest honors I’ve ever had as a photographer, and I’m so excited to share Issaac and Adrienne Fullenkamp’s pregnancy announcement at Coxhall Gardens on the blog!
Isaac & Adrienne used family photos to surprise their parents & siblings with their pregnancy announcement.
When they found out they were expecting, Isaac and Adrienne knew that they wanted to tell their families at the same time, so they began thinking of ideas.
Since their wedding (You can see their amazing wedding day here!), the Coghlans and Fullenkamps have been discussing having family photos taken. And, during quarantine to support my small business, Isaac and Adrienne graciously purchased a gift certificate from me simply because they’re kind, wonderful people.
Knowing that they already had a gift certificate and that the suggestion of family photos wouldn’t be suspicious because this is something that their families were already talking about, Isaac and Adrienne called me to ask if scheduling a session where they told their families their exciting news would be possible. (I was the first person that they told they were having a baby, and I get teary eyed just thinking about that honor.)
So, we scheduled a session; Adrienne coordinated everyone’s outfits; and nobody was the least bit suspicious!
“On the count of three, everyone say, ‘Isaac & Adrienne are having a baby!’”
Before their session, Isaac, Adrienne, and I worked out a plan. We decided to start their session like any other family photo session.
With both the Fullenkamp and Coghlan families present, I went through my normal family photo groupings at Coxhall Gardens just like I do for all extended family photo sessions.
Then, I said, “Now, let’s take a photo of the whole group and put Isaac and Adrienne in the middle.”
I grabbed a few smiling and laughing photos and when I had a few—as planned—I told the family, “Now, on the count of three, I want everyone to say, ‘Isaac and Adrienne are having a baby!’”
And, as their families repeated these words initially confused, Isaac took the ultrasound photos out of his pocket, and Isaac and Adrienne showed their sweet babe to their families.
As you can imagine, their families were thrilled!

Isaac and Adrienne, you know how much I love you guys. You’re fun, thoughtful, and organized, and I’m so thrilled that you’re a VRP bride and groom who have truly become my friends.
You are going to be the BEST parents, and your little one is going to be so blessed to have the two of you, amazing grandparents, and an aunt and uncle who are clearly SO ready to spoil him/her!

At first, everyone was in shock, and a few even thought I was joking!
Then, when Isaac and Adrienne pulled out ultrasound photos, everything became so real.
When you realized you’re going to be grandmas!
Baby Fullenkamp is going to be SO loved by his/her grandparents!
When your baby is having a baby!
I couldn’t be more excited for this sweet couple! They’re going to be the best parents!
