As we walked through downtown Delphi, Indiana, I swear that every person who drove or walked by either stopped to talk to Shane and Kate or at least honked and waived. I knew this couple was loved, but after spending an hour in their town, it’s evident that they’re truly adored!
Shane Evans is the mayor of Delphi (Random fact: He’s one of the youngest mayors to ever be elected!), and next June, Kate Hickner (who is a kindergarten teacher with the patience of a saint) will officially be the town’s first lady! So, it was only fitting to take Shane and Kate’s engagement photos in downtown Delphi, Indiana.

While I’m always happy to recommend photo locations to my couples, I love when they already have places in mind because it makes their engagement photos more personal. When I asked Kate what she wanted to do, she said, “Oh. Delphi for sure! We love our town.”
So, that’s what we did! We started Shane and Kate’s engagement session at their house, which is within walking distance of downtown Delphi. Their house is GORGEOUS, guys! It’s classic and has the most amazing patio area. Plus, their home is also home to Mia—the cutest Mastiff that you ever did see!
After taking photos with Miss Mia, we headed downtown and took photos around the square. Delphi isn’t far from Lafayette, Indiana, but I don’t make my way that direction very often. After seeing the town, I need to change that! There are so many cute shops and small businesses (You guys know how much I adore small businesses.), and the grounds are maintained beautifully.
Even when Shane and Kate aren’t having their engagement photos taken downtown, they spend a lot of time on the square. Their house is so close to downtown that they regularly walk to the square to grab a bite, have a drink, or spend time with their friends in the community (I’m pretty sure they call everyone who lives in Delphi a friend!).
Long story short, it was very special to take Shane and Kate’s engagement photos in the town they love so much!

I’m SO excited for Shane and Kate’s wedding next June. I’m a big advocate for supporting small, local businesses, and that’s exactly what Shane and Kate plan to do with their wedding!
From their venue to the details, Shane and Kate are doing their best to support local wedding vendors and businesses. It’s nearly a year away, but I already know that their wedding will be one of my favorites of 2019!
