Very rarely do I take senior photos anymore, and I never thought I’d take a high school student as an intern. However, Shelby Schambach is such a hard worker and so talented behind the camera that exceptions were made this summer.
And, I’m so excited to share Shelby’s senior photos at Newfields in Indianapolis on the blog!
I had the pleasure of having Shelby as an intern this summer.
Before you check out Shelby’s photos, I have to share that I’ve absolutely loved having Shelby as a VRP intern this summer.
Like I said, I never thought I’d take a high school student as an intern, and all previous interns have been college students. However, Shelby is so driven and professional that I knew she was the right person to have on the VRP team for the summer.
You see, Shelby may be a high school senior, but she already has an established business as a family and senior photographer—Shelby Schambach Photography.
Shelby has a photo style nailed down and wanted to intern to (1) gain wedding experience and (2) see what it was like behind the scenes to run a photography business full time.
This summer, Shelby attended several weddings with me and has been a huge help in the office. In fact, when my VA Emma had her baby early, I threw a lot at Shelby, and she did a stellar job with everything. I don’t know what I would’ve done without her!
On top of this, Shelby is crazy talented behind the camera (which was a blessing to VRP brides and grooms), pays attention to every detail, and doesn’t hesitate to jump in whenever she sees an opportunity to help.
Right now, Shelby isn’t 100% sure what her plans are after graduation. She’s considering studying business or exercise science/kinesiology and has her college list narrowed down. However, she does know that she wants to continue with photography in one way or another, and after having the pleasure of working with her all summer, I can vouch that she has what it takes from both a work ethic and artistic standpoint to succeed as a photographer.
She’ll thrive in whatever she decides to do, and I cannot wait to what’s next for her!
Shelby is a senior photographer, making it especially an honor that she trusted me to take her senior photos!
As a photographer herself, Shelby primarily shoots families and seniors. As a result, when she asked if I would take her senior photos, I was particularly honored!
Wanting her photos to be different from her clients’ photos, Shelby wanted a unique location and ultimately decided to do her senior photos at Newfields in Indianapolis, as well as on the Canal Walk.
Between Shelby’s perfect outfit and epic location choices, her senior photos came together beautifully and classically (in my opinion). And, I cannot wait for Shelby and her parents to see her photos!

Miss Shelby, I can’t begin to tell you how much I’ve loved having you on the VRP team and getting to know you better this summer.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to take your senior photos. I hope you love these previews, but I can almost guarantee that I’ve loved having you as an intern even more!
Congratulations on being nearly graduated, on the incredible business you’ve created, and being someone with a work ethic that’s impossible to rival. Now, enjoy your senior year!
