I’m so excited to finally be able to share Brian and Ashley’s summer engagement photos in downtown Indianapolis on the blog!
You see, this sweet couple’s wedding plans were drastically affected by the coronavirus. We were supposed to take their engagement photos in March, and Brian and Ashley planned to become husband and wife at the Indiana State House on April 24, 2020.
But, the coronavirus put a hold on both Brian and Ashley’s engagement photos and wedding.
However, with restrictions beginning to lift, Brian and Ashley’s big day is rescheduled for this September, and we were finally able to shoot their engagement session. And, now, I’m thrilled to share this fun couple’s summer engagement photos in downtown Indianapolis on the blog!
Back in 2018, Brian and Ashley met on OkCupid. Coincidentally, this was right before Ashley’s sister Andrea’s wedding—which is how I met Ashley when she was Andrea’s maid of honor and I was Andrea’s photographer.
Brian and Ashley texted and talked for a few weeks before making plans to grab pizza. They thought their evening would just include dinner, but they hit it off! And, dinner became a walk, which resulted with listening to music, which turned into staying up late chatting.
Just a matter of months later (I believe Brian and Ashley said six months), Brian knew Ashley was the one and decided to pop the question!
When Brian decided to propose, he wanted to commemorate the evening but keep things true to who he and Ashley are as a couple—they’re very relaxed and love good food! He also knew Ashley wouldn’t want lots of people staring in a restaurant, so Brian decided to plan a wonderful evening out and then ask Ashley to be his wife when they got home.
Brian and Ashley went out to eat, had a grand time, and then came home to cozy up. While Ashley was sitting on the couch, Brian asked her, “Why don’t you stand up for one of your favorite hugs?”
Ashley stood up to hug Brian, and when she did, Brian got down on one knee. And, now—despite the coronavirus causing a delay—Brian and Ashley are getting married!
Since Brian and Ashley’s wedding is in downtown Indy, they decided to do their engagement photos in downtown Indy as well. Their engagement session was kind of like a wedding day photo preview, which was perfect!
These two brought amazing outfits (I mean, Ashley was so well accessorized, and Brian’s suit looked great!) and let me drag them all over downtown Indianapolis.
They teased each other, teased me a bit, and by the end of the session (If you’ve worked with me before, you know I have a terrible fake laugh. Brian can imitate it perfectly!), I felt like we were old friends. Brian and Ashley, I just adore you guys and cannot wait for your big day!
That said, Brian, I hope you’ve forgiven me for making you miss your steak dinner! You see, Brian and Ashley made reservations at Ruth Chris for after their session. We were supposed to be done at 9:00 pm, and the last reservation Ruth Chris had was 8:45 pm since they’re still closing early due to the virus. Brian figured that 15 minutes late wouldn’t be the end of the world. Well, Brian and Ashley did so well in front of the camera that I went a little over on time, and Ruth Chris wouldn’t let them in.
Again, sorry, Brian and Ashley! I hope you still ate something delicious and feel your photos were worth missing out on steak!
Brian and Ashley will celebrate their wedding at the Indiana State House on Friday, September 18, 2020.
After becoming husband and wife, they’ll enjoy their reception at Seasons 52 with a euchre tournament. How much fun is that?!
Brian and Ashley, I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am for the two of you or how much I admire you both for handling all of these wedding changes like such champs. You clearly make a great team.
Thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer, and I hope you love these previews from your summer engagement photos in downtown Indianapolis!
