I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
You’d never know that just a couple years ago, Logan Plantenga and Breanna Wood were nothing more than social media acquaintances. Because, after spending a couple hours with them for their summer engagement photos at Holcomb Gardens, I can attest that these two have fun wherever they go and truly enjoy doing life together, regardless of what activity they’re participating in or what’s going on.
I’ve known Breanna for years, and for this reason and many others, I’m so honored that Logan and Bre are trusting me to be their wedding photographer, and I’m thrilled to share their Indianapolis engagement photos on the blog!
Back in 2020, Logan added Bre on both Facebook and Instagram, and Breanna—who didn’t think much of it—accepted because they had mutual friends.
While Logan knew of Breanna and was interested, which might be why he followed her in the first place, he didn’t make a move until he slid into Bre’s DMs about two months later.
Logan and Bre got to talking, realized they knew a lot of the same people, started texting regularly, and even started playing pool via their phones. I mean, it was 2020. Virtual pool was where the world was!
A few weeks later, Logan told Bre he’d really like to take her on a date, but Bre wasn’t so sure. So, she decided to leave her answer up to chance and told Logan they could go out if he beat her in a game of pool.
Whether Bre let Logan win or fate was in Logan’s favor, Logan and Bre went on their first date to a pumpkin patch just a few days later. And, they’ve been together ever since!
Since fall 2020, these two have spent a lot of evenings at the drive-in, many hours on the golf course (Bre says she likes driving the golf cart more than golfing, but she’s a good sport!), and much of their time simply hanging out with friends, family, and their sweet pup. Logan—who is originally from Lafayette and still works in Lafayette—even moved to Wolcott, Indiana, because he wanted to be closer to Bre but knew she wanted to stay close to her family.
Now, not even two full years later, Logan and Breanna are getting married!
It didn’t take long for Logan and Bre to realize that they’d each found “the one.” As a result, it was only natural for conversations about moving in together and marriage to begin.
However, to throw Bre—who is hard to surprise because she’s such a planner—off, Logan repeatedly told Bre, “Yeah. It will be a couple years before we get engaged.”
While Bre was a bit suspicious and didn’t think it would truly be years, she had no idea that Logan was going to pop the question while they were visiting one of Bre’s best friends in Florida.
Logan and Bre went south to see Havana (Bre’s bestie) and her family, and on their very first night there, Havana and her parents suggested that they all get dressed up and go down to the beach at sunset to take some photos. Havana’s parents said it would be great if Bre could snap a few photos of their family, and Havana said she wanted to take some photos with Bre and that she’d be happy to take a few photos of Bre and Logan. Bre—who really loves and values photos—thought this was a great idea and wasn’t the least bit suspicious!
After grabbing a variety of photos, the group more or less said, “Logan and Bre, it’s your turn.” Then, while they were having photos taken along the beach, Logan got down on one knee and asked Bre to be his wife while Bre’s best friend and essentially second family caught the whole moment on camera!
Logan, you deserve major props for your epic proposal. I mean, it’s difficult to surprise someone who plans so thoroughly, but you did it!
Now, I have to say that I’ve known Bre for years. We are from the same small town, and she was in my brother’s class. While she’s about five years younger than me, I certainly remember Bre and how sweet she was as a kid. As a result, I was so flattered and excited when she reached out and asked me to be her and Logan’s wedding photographer!
When it came time to choose a location for Logan and Bre’s engagement session, Breanna’s one request was that we utilize a location with a lot of nature. After sharing a list of options with Logan and Bre, she quickly decided that between the willow trees and water, she and Logan wanted to take summer engagement photos at Holcomb Gardens.
And, I have to say that I had SO much fun hanging out with these two! I mean, they made each other genuinely laugh throughout their whole shoot, are actually both very detail oriented, chose perfect photo outfits, and even shared each of their “signature” poses with me (which I truly am hoping they’ll break out after their first kiss during their ceremony!)
Basically, I couldn’t have loved hanging out with Bre and Logan anymore. While I was excited for their 2023 wedding at The Stables in Lafayette, Indiana before, I now cannot wait for this darling VRP couple’s big day!
Logan and Breanna, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer. There’s no doubt in my mind that both your wedding day and—more importantly—the life you share will be beautiful.
While I cannot wait to get the two of you in front of the camera again next year, I hope you love these previews from your summer engagement photos at Holcomb Gardens in Indianapolis!
Bre and Logan really did kill their engagement session. I mean, we got to some pretty advanced posing VERY quickly. I was so impressed! In case you’re wondering where Bre found this adorable dress that was PERFECT for engagement photos, it’s from Amazon! It’s available in multiple colors, and it’s only a matter of time before I buy one for myself! Can’t you just feel their joy?! Logan and Bre truly light one another up!
