Grace and Luke may be the giggliest couple I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. And, I’m so excited to share their summer engagement photos at Wea Creek Orchard in Lafayette, Indiana on the blog!
Luke & Grace have always been part of one another’s lives.
Now, before we dive into their engagement photos, it’s important to note that Luke and Grace go way back. You see, before they were the darling couple that they are today, their dads were best friends growing up.
Their dads remained close after graduating, getting married, and starting their families. Then, their kids became friends! In fact, Luke’s sister is Grace’s best friend!
The Mantels and Stevensons have spent a lot of time camping and enjoying the lake over the years, and they consider one another family.
While Luke and Grace saw one another almost as cousins growing up, things began to change in high school. Luke asked Grace to his junior prom—just as a friend. But, sparks started to fly, and six years later, these two are getting married!
Luke deserves an award for his sneaky proposal!
Now, I’ve never proposed, but I feel like the hardest part of popping the question has to be keeping everything a secret from your significant other. I mean, you don’t want her/him to get suspicious!
By the beginning of 2019, Grace and Luke had already discussed marriage and even picked out Grace’s ring! Grace knew that the ring was in Luke’s possession, and she was patiently (or maybe not so patiently) waiting for him to ask the question.
Luke didn’t want Grace to have any idea the big moment was coming, so he came up with the perfect story.
Luke told Grace that they were going to Indianapolis with Luke’s sister (who happens to be one of Grace’s best friends) and her boyfriend so that Grace and Luke could take photos and videos of Luke’s sister getting engaged.
Grace was so excited for her friend and ready to capture the special moment. As they walked along the canal in downtown Indy, Grace thought the proposal was about to happen and was ready to whip out her phone.
To her surprise, Luke got down on one knee and asked Grace to be his wife!
Needless to say, Grace was SHOCKED!
Way to go, Luke! You’re so clever!

I got to meet Grace for coffee earlier this summer, but I met Luke for the first time at their engagement session. And, I have to tell you that these two are equally amazing!
While Grace is a little more reserved, she is as sweet as can be and so go with the flow. Luke, on the other hand, is a bit of a comedian. These two had one another—and me—laughing through their entire session!
I have no doubt that Luke and Grace’s wedding—but more importantly their marriage—will be full of joy and laughter. I just adore this couple and loved hanging out with them for their summer engagement photos at Wea Creek Orchard!

2020 is going to be a very big year for weddings, but luckily, Luke and Grace are planning about a year and a half in advance. You see, their big day—September 26, 2020—is proving to be one of the most popular wedding dates for next year!
But, these two are way ahead of the game and have most of their wedding vendors booked and details determined. Grace even has her dress! I got to see it, and she’s going to look absolutely stunning!
Grace and Luke, I can’t wait for your joy-filled wedding at Meadow Springs next year! I know it’s going to be beautiful and be every bit as much fun as the two of you are.
