As of Saturday, Shane and Kate Evans are officially the mayor and first lady of Delphi, Indiana! And, I’m so excited to share their joy-filled wedding at Wabash Erie Canal Park in Delphi, Indiana on the blog!
I look forward to all of my couples’ weddings, but I’ve been dying for Shane and Kate’s big day to arrive, and it certainly didn’t disappoint!
Shane is the mayor of Delphi, Indiana—a small city about a half an hour away from Lafayette. Mayor and First Lady Evans adore their city, and it isn’t hard to see why!
From the lovely downtown area and parks to receiving lots of friendly waves, you quickly feel at home in Delphi. (You can learn more about how friendly this city is if you check out Shane and Kate’s engagement photos!)
Shane grew up in Delphi, and much of his family—including his parents—still live in the city that Shane now mayors.
Kate is originally from Flora, Indiana—which is just a town over from Delphi. She made Delphi her home when she and Shane purchased their house a few years ago. And, since then, she’s fully embraced this city, and I think it’s safe to say that she loves Delphi every bit as much as Shane does! (Side note: Kate teaches kindergarten. She’s a saint!)
Because they love their city, Shane and Kate wanted to make Delphi part of their wedding day. They accomplished this goal by utilizing lots of Delphi and nearby wedding vendors.
I mean, they got married at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, had hair and makeup done by Sassy’s Salon, enjoyed food from AllBQ’s, and celebrated their wedding at Wabash Erie Canal Park in Delphi, Indiana.
You can see Shane and Kate’s vendor list at the bottom of this post, but nearly all of them are based in Delphi, Indiana!
I have a huge heart for small businesses, and Shane and Kate, I have to tell you that I have so much admiration for your choice to use local vendors!
If you’re from Indiana, you know that 2019 has been a crazy year for weather. We’ve had a ton of rain! And, Shane and Kate’s wedding day was no exception.
Shane and Kate could’ve let this get to them, but the rain didn’t phase them at all! When people brought up the precipitation, Kate responded with, “We’re just extra lucky!”
Shane and Kate were simply happy to be getting married and spending the day with the people they love most.
Side note: I have a special place in my heart for couples who are willing to brave the rain for photos. You only get to experience your special day once, so I’m always in favor of getting a little wet to get images you love. And, Shane, Kate, and their bridal party were more than happy to brave the showers!
Shane and Kate’s go-with-the-flow attitudes on their wedding day was a huge testament to who they are as people. The Evanses are some of the kindest individuals you’ll ever meet. (After meeting their families, it’s clear that they get this from their families!) And, it’s a joy to simply be in their presence.
Shane and Kate, I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am for you or how honored I am that you trusted me to be your wedding photographer.
Even with the rain, your wedding in Delphi, Indiana couldn’t have been anymore perfect or fun.
I hope your big day was everything you imagined it would be, but more importantly, I hope you’re elated to finally be husband and wife!
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Evans! I hope you love these previews!
Shane and Kate’s house couldn’t have been anymore perfect for detail and getting-ready photos. Their home is gorgeous!
Fun fact: Kate’s mom (Barb) made Kate’s succulent bouquet. A few days before the wedding, though, one of Shane and Kate’s mastiffs ate the bouquet! It was repaired and look gorgeous! Barb, you need to consider at Etsy shop!
Wanting to be comfortable, Kate and her girls wore matching tennis shoes. They weren’t sorry about it!
For special occasions, Pat (Kate’s dad) gifts those he loves with pennies from the year of the special occasion. When Kate got dressed that morning, jewelry from her parents and a 2019 penny were waiting for her. How sweet is that?!
Please notice one of Shane and Kate’s pups peaking from around the corner!
Shane and Kate’s grandmothers were the “flower women”! Excuse me while I melt!
Such a smart shoe choice, ladies!
This was the first time I’d ever seen an ice cream cake wedding cake!
Gotta grab a photo with the bride and groom!
