I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
It’s hard to believe that Logan and Becky have been married for more than a year! But, it was so great to catch up with one of my favorite VRP couples ever, and I’m so excited to share their one-year anniversary photos at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point, Indiana on the blog!
Usually in Indiana, rain on weddings days isn’t a big issue. There’s always a gap in the precipitation somewhere.
EXCEPT on Logan and Becky’s wedding day.
Logan and Becky became husband and wife on April 27, 2019 (Check out photos from their big day!), and if rain on your wedding day brings good luck, Logan and Becky are the luckiest couple of all time. Because, on their special day, it rained, sleeted, and snowed and didn’t stop for even a second!
As a result, we had to come up with a backup photo plan on their wedding day (You can read more of this story on their wedding blog post!), and for their anniversary session, we had to do the same thing!
Originally, Logan and Becky wanted to do an in-home session with their two dogs and two cats. But, with the coronavirus, we ultimately decided that an in-home session wasn’t a good idea. So, Logan and Becky picked a nearby park that they loved.
When we (my intern Katey and I) got to the park, the park was closed. So, we decided to quickly relocate Logan and Becky’s mini anniversary session (All VRP brides and grooms receive a complimentary mini anniversary session!) to the Lake County Fairgrounds, which happens to have a pretty pond, trees, and dock. Thank goodness!
Logan and Becky, I love how the two of you just go with the flow. Thank you for being so flexible and so good to everyone you meet!
When Logan and Becky became husband and wife in 2019, they had no idea that their first year of marriage would include a global pandemic!
The coronavirus has resulted with Becky teaching fifth grade from home, cancelled travel plans, and other craziness. But, their first year of marriage has also included amazing memories, adopting two dogs and two cats, and doing life together.
Overall, I think the Dexters would agree that year one has been pretty great!
As wonderful as weddings are, marriage is even more beautiful—even though there are days and seasons where marriage can be difficult.
While Instagram is full of #marriagegoals, I’m challenging VRP brides and grooms to open up and share what marriage looks like behind the scenes. I asked Logan and Becky a few questions about year one, and they have some great advice to share!
The best part about being married is growing together. Over the course of our first year of marriage, we started renting an apartment together, and then we bought a house shortly after. We have added four fur babies (and an aquatic one) to our family. We have started our careers together too. It’s so amazing to watch each other succeed. Not everything has been wonderful this year, but even supporting each other through the rough patches has taught us so much about one another, and we feel like our relationship has become stronger than ever this year.
We think the most difficult part of marriage so far is being on the same page with so many huge life decisions. We like to think that we are an amazing team, but when it came to some of the bigger decisions, we found that we had some differing opinions with how and when we wanted to do certain things. It was definitely not anything that we couldn’t handle! However, I think we just assumed we would magically agree on everything (haha)—and that was not the case!
The advice that we would give to newlyweds would be to never think that you’re above change. We have very different love languages (quality time versus words of affirmation). We were both giving each other the best love that we knew how, but we really weren’t filling each other’s love tanks in the way that we needed to be. You have to learn that everyone loves differently, and to have the best marriage possible, sometimes you have to bend a little! Never think that you are above growing and changing for your loved one!
Logan and Becky, I can’t begin to tell you how honored I was to be your wedding photographer or how thankful I am to be able to call you guys friends now.
Sweet couples like you are exactly why I love what I do.
Happy one-year anniversary! May you celebrate many, many more!
These two love “The Office” as much as Zach and I do, which just makes me adore Logan and Becky even more!
Becky originally purchased these mugs for their in-home session and still wanted to include them despite the change of plans. Logan wasn’t sure the mugs made sense. I told them to just pretend they were on the deck of their lake house!
