Want to know my favorite subjects to photograph? Couples with their dogs! That’s right. I’m a total sucker for couples who are:
- Best friends.
- As obsessed with their dogs as I am with mine.
So, needless to say, Nile & Haylie’s engagement session with their “dog of honor” was a dream come true for me!
We took Nile & Haylie’s engagement photos in Downtown Lafayette, Indiana.
It seems like it took much longer than normal for Indiana to warm up this year, but it was certainly a hot one (maybe more muggy than hot) for Nile & Haylie’s engagement photos in Downtown Lafayette, Indiana.
But, these two definitely came prepared for the heat! In fact, they brought a whole wagon and allowed me to put my equipment in it! It was great!
To keep Belle, their pup, safe in the heat, Haylie’s mom also came along. This allowed us to:
- Make sure Belle was safe when we grabbed photos of just her mom and dad.
- Protect Belle from the heat.
Belle stayed for about 30 minutes, and then Grandma Karla took her home. If you like to include your pets in your family or engagement photos (like Zach and I do), bringing a a trusted family member or friend to care for your pup is always a good idea.
Nile & Haylie’s wedding is going to be a dream!
I get excited for all weddings, but I’m especially excited for Nile & Haylie’s for a few reasons:
I just adore this couple.
I grew up with Haylie, and this couple is simply fun to be around. They bring joy wherever they are. If their wedding is anything like they and their families are, I know the bride, groom, and their guests will be smiling all day long!
They’ve booked some really incredible vendors!

Venue: The Lahr Atrium
Located in Downtown Lafayette, Indiana, the Lahr Atrium has beautiful marble staircases and floors, and because it’s an atrium, natural light comes through the ceiling’s windows. From a photographer’s perspective, this is amazing!
Dresses & Tuxedos: Christian Vail Bridal
Lafayette was blessed with a new bridal boutique this year that carries wedding, bridesmaid, and MOB dresses, as well as tuxes—making it your one-stop shop for wedding attire! So far, the boutique is serving our community so well. I highly recommend Christina Vail Bridal and can’t wait to see Haylie’s dress!
Nile & Haylie are my first clients to arrange their wedding date around my availability.
I took couple photos of Nile & Haylie in October, and at the time I thought, “Wow. I bet Nile is going to pop the question any time.” In March, I looked at my phone and noticed I had a missed call from Haylie. Before I called her back, I had this gut feeling that she was engaged, and I’m happy to say that I was right!
We talked about how Nile popped the question, how her ring featured the diamond from her grandmother’s ring who had recently passed away, and how only their family knew about their big news so far.
Then, Haylie told me she definitely wanted me to photograph their wedding and that she needed my fall availability so that she could plan around my schedule. And, you guys, this just about knocked me over! I mean, this really is the dream.
