A 65-degree day in November? The most adorable fall photo outfits? And, a super sweet couple? Engagement sessions don’t get any better than this, and I’m so excited to share Dennis Lyrintzis and Angela Hess’s fall engagement photos at Fairfield Lakes Park in Lafayette, Indiana on the blog!
For Memorial Day weekend in 2018, Angela—who lived in California at the time—made plans with her friends to spend the weekend in Chicago.
Since they would be in the Midwest, Angela’s best friend from college asked if it would be okay if she invited her cousin—Dennis—to hang out with them for part of the weekend.
“I’d known her for years, and she’d literally never mentioned her cousin,” Angela told me when she and Dennis explained how they met.
Not realizing that she was about to meet her future husband, Angela told her friend that of course her cousin could hang out with them.
Over the course of the long weekend, Dennis and Angela got to know one another. They exchanged phone numbers, and after Angela returned to California, they kept talking. They began dating long distance and saw each other as often as they could.
And, it wasn’t long before Angela decided to move across the country and join Dennis in Lafayette, Indiana so they could be closer.
Since making the Midwest their home together, Dennis and Angela’s days have been filled with cooking, traveling to national parks, hiking, adventures with their dog, boba, and rock climbing. And, now, they’re about to experience their greatest adventure together yet—marriage!
Dennis deserves major props, because he could not have planned a proposal anymore true to who he and Angela are as a couple!
You see, a big item on Dennis and Angela’s bucket list is visiting every US National Park together, and over the course of their relationship, they’ve slowly but surely been crossing each park off the list.
So, when they decided to spend a day at Congaree National Park while traveling with four of their closest friends, Angela wasn’t suspicious of a thing. And, after completing a 10-mile hike, Angela most definitely had no idea that Dennis was about to pop the question!
As they were finishing their hike, Dennis said, “I have something in my shoe.”
Not thinking much of it and being tired after such a long day, Angela kept walking.
However, when she heard Dennis tell one of their friends, “Now,” she turned around, and Dennis got down on one knee and asked Angela to be his wife.
Their friends captured the proposal on camera, and since they were already on vacation, Angela and Dennis’s vacation essentially turned into an engagement-moon. How perfect is that?! Way to go, Dennis!
Between coronavirus restrictions, wildfires in California, and life changes, Angela and Dennis haven’t officially set a wedding date yet. But, Angela loves fall in Indiana and wanted to have engagement photos taken sooner rather than later.
And, I have to say that I was so excited when Angela reached out to me! Just from the details she provided, it was quickly clear that Angela is organized and Dennis is laid back but they’re both fun and adventurous. During their session, it was obvious that Dennis and Angela’s personalities complement one another well and that these two lovingly push one another outside of their comfort zones in different ways.
I loved hanging out with these two and having them in front of the camera for their engagement photos at Fairfield Lakes Park (one of my favorite places to shoot). In fact, Angela and I even have plans to get coffee or a drink soon!
Like I mentioned before, Dennis and Angela don’t have a wedding date officially set yet, but they’re thinking they’ll get married in spring 2022 with a fun but elegant barn wedding with sunflowers, ivy, and “as much nature as possible.”
No matter when they celebrate, I have no doubt that their big day will be both fun and gorgeous!
Dennis and Angela, thank you so much for trusting me to take your engagement photos! It was truly an honor, and I had such a great time!
I hope you love these previews of your fall engagement photos at Fairfield Lakes Park in Lafayette, Indiana!
Can we talk about how perfect Dennis and Angela’s fall photo outfits were for a sec? I love the layers and colors they chose!
That ring!
