Want to know the perfect time to have fall photos taken in Indiana? The last week of October and the first week of November. This is typically when the leaves are the most colorful.
Wanting their engagement photos to have truly fall vibes, Joey Humes and Maryssa Depies scheduled their engagement photos for November 3. And, now, I’m so excited to be able to share this darling couple’s fall engagement photos on the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge in Lafayette, Indiana on the blog!
Before you check out Joey and Maryssa’s engagement photos, I can’t help sharing a little bit of their love story with you.
Since they met when Joey was a sophomore and Maryssa was a freshman at Hillsdale College, Joey and Maryssa have had a lot in common, and it was their shared love for running and science that brought them together.
You see, Joey and Maryssa both ran cross country for Hillsdale College and had similar majors. (Maryssa studied bio-chem, and Joey studied chemistry.) Between the meets, miles, workouts, traveling to compete, and classes, Joey and Maryssa fell in love. And, now, they’re getting married!
In addition to their love for running and science, Joey and Maryssa also share a love for the beach, especially Lake Michigan. In fact, when I asked Joey and Maryssa what their ideal date night looks like, they said, “We both love the beach and candle-lit dinners.”
With this in mind, Joey knew he wanted to propose at a spot on Lake Michigan where they’d shared many date nights in the past. So, Joey took Maryssa to one of her favorite restaurants, and then at sunset, he led her to their spot on the beach and asked his best friend to be his wife.
After Maryssa said, “Yes,” she then found out that Joey had arranged for their families to meet up with them just down the beach to celebrate! How sweet is that?!
Joey, you planned an epic proposal and deserve major props! You also deserve props for being the one to book your engagement photos. Like I told you and Maryssa, I very rarely get contacted by grooms. You’re clearly planning your wedding as a team, and I think it’s safe to say you guys are going to be pretty great at being married!
While Joey and Maryssa met at Hillsdale College, they’ve since graduated and are now both in grad school. As a result. Joey lives in Lafayette and Maryssa lives in Indianapolis.
According to Joey and Maryssa, they love both cities and spend their fair share of time in both. But, wanting a spot with true fall colors and an area with some architectural interest in case we lost all the leaves early this year due to the crazy amount of rain we got, Joey and Maryssa decided to take their engagement photos on the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge in downtown Lafayette, Indiana.
And, I have to say that I really enjoyed hanging out with this darling couple! Between how complimentary they are to one another and how they sweetly they asked about my own life, it didn’t take long for me to find out that Joey and Maryssa are truly kind, thoughtful people.
To attest to how much I enjoyed hanging out with these two, I have to share that their session went a little long. Usually, engagement sessions are 90 minutes, but these two are just so sweet and fun, and they scheduled their engagement photos on such a lovely fall day that I couldn’t help asking if we could take just a few more photos. Joey and Maryssa graciously let me keep them in front of the camera for two full hours and just killed their engagement session!
Joey and Maryssa, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to take your engagement photos. I so enjoyed getting to hang out with and know you both!
I have no doubt that your Century Club Ballroom wedding will be both lovely and fun.
Congratulations, and I hope you love your fall engagement photos on the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge in Lafayette, Indiana!
Joey and Maryssa were so sweet letting me drag them all over Lafayette’s Pedestrian Bridge. Between the Lafayette side and the West Lafayette side, we were able to get a lot of variety. Thanks for being troopers and so sweet, Joey and Maryssa! Like I said, Joey and Maryssa picked the perfect week for fall photos! I know waiting until November might make some people nervous, but I’m telling you. That last week of October and first week of November are typically the only two weeks of the year we have colors like this!
