The sweetest couple, a photo location that means the world to them, and some of the classiest engagement photo outfits I’ve ever seen? Engagement sessions don’t get any better than this, and I’m so excited to share Hunter Allbaugh and Kathleen Trimble’s formal fall engagement photos in Amboy, Indiana on the blog!
Hunter came up with an excuse to talk to Kathleen.
Before you check out Hunter and Kathleen’s engagement photos, I can’t help sharing a little bit about how this dynamic duo came to be.
You see, while their family and friends probably couldn’t imagine Hunter and Kathleen without one another today, they haven’t always been inseparable. Hunter and Kathleen were a few years apart in school and—according to them—complete opposites.
In fact, Kathleen jokes that when she started high school, she never would’ve imagined that she and Hunter would end up together. “He kind of drove me crazy,” she told me laughing.
However, when she was 16 and Hunter was 18, Hunter sent Kathleen a DM and asked if Kathleen had their ag teacher’s number. For the record, Hunter already had the teacher’s number. He was just looking for an excuse to have a conversation with the beautiful girl known for wearing red lipstick!
And, it’s a good thing that Hunter fibbed, because that DM led to Hunter and Kathleen becoming best friends, spending date nights wandering around Cabela’s, Hunter becoming an integral part of the Trimble family farm, and—ultimately—Hunter proposing with Kathleen’s grandmother’s ring!

Now, while Hunter is more laidback, Kathleen is a PLANNER! This girl has life planned out for years into the future. And, as a result, she and Hunter had already discussed when they’d like to get married, what they wanted their wedding to be like, and the fact that Kathleen really wanted to make her grandmother’s wedding ring her own long before Hunter popped the question.
Knowing the proposal was coming and that 2022 was going to be a huge year for weddings, Kathleen (with Hunter’s blessing) began wedding planning. (Technically, Kathleen had her venue and wedding photography package booked BEFORE she and Hunter were engaged. I just love this girl!)
In the meantime, Hunter was busy having a new diamond put into Kathleen’s grandmother’s ring, with harvest, and finding the perfect time and way to ask for Kathleen’s father’s blessing.
Then, one day in October, Hunter suggested that he and Kathleen do a date night in downtown Indianapolis. (Side note: If you’re a farmer, you know taking a night off in October is a BIG deal!)
They spent the evening wandering around the city, and while they were walking along the canal, Hunter got down on one knee and asked Kathleen—his best friend since they were teenagers—to be his wife. And, as Kathleen said in her Instagram post when she shared the news, all she could think was, “#freakingfinally”!

When I asked Kathleen where she and Hunter wanted to have their engagement photos taken, she instantly knew that her family’s farm in Amboy, Indiana was the perfect spot. After all, the farm has been important to Kathleen her whole life, and Hunter—who now works for the farm—loves it just as much.
Hunter and Kathleen fully intend to stay in Amboy, continue helping the farm grow, running multiple businesses, and raising their family in their hometown. With all of this in mind, their engagement photos just HAD to be on Kathleen’s parents’ property.
When Kathleen picked outfits for her and Hunter’s engagement photos, she wanted to choose one outfit that was true to who Hunter and Kathleen are on a daily basis and one outfit that was gorgeously formal and would allow her red lipstick (something Kathleen is known for wearing) to pop.
So, for their first outfit, Kathleen wore a super cute sweater dress, and Hunter wore jeans and a sweater.
Then, for outfit number two—which I could not possibly love anymore—Kathleen wore a gorgeous, formal, black dress, and Hunter wore black slacks, a white dress shirt, and a black tie. And, there’s no denying that Hunter and Kathleen both look INCREDIBLE!

Now, I just have to say that I so loved hanging out with Hunter and Kathleen on a property that means the world to them and that they just killed their engagement session. Just wait until you scroll to see!

Hunter and Kathleen, I cannot begin to explain how honored I am to be your wedding photographer or how much I’m looking forward to your big day.
You’re one of what seems like few couples who truly know what matters most to them in life, and there’s no doubt in my mind that your marriage and relationship are going to be an example to others for generations to come.
I cannot wait for your August 2022 wedding, but for now, I hope you love these previews from your formal fall engagement photos in Amboy, Indiana!
Kathleen told me before her and Hunter’s engagement session that while they certainly snuggle in private, they aren’t big on PDA. But, she wanted at least one kissing photo. We grabbed a couple, and I just have to smile when I think about what Hunter said when Kathleen asked him if he’d rather kiss or giggle kiss. According to Hunter (and I completely agree), “The giggle kiss is just more light hearted.”
This barn is literally right next to Kathleen’s parents’ house. Kathleen says her parents are regularly asked by friends and family if they can use it for photo ops, and I can see why! 
And, THIS is how you want to dress for engagement photos! This classic, formal look will never go out of style. When Hunter and Kathleen’s grandkids see these photos someday, I can almost guarantee that these outfits will hold up. Way to go, Hunter and Kathleen!
