Shane & Kate: Winter Maternity Photos at Purdue University

Mr. & Mrs. Copeland: An At-home, Socially Distanced Wedding in Tinley Park, Illinois
February 11, 2021Do you remember the extended family photos I shared last summer where the couple who coordinated the photos told their families they were expecting a baby during the shoot?!
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can see this incredibly sweet session here! But, Isaac and Adrienne Fullenkamp (one of my very favorite VRP brides and grooms ever) are just a few weeks away from welcoming their baby boy into the world, and I’m so excited to share their snowy Holliday Park maternity photos on the blog!
Holliday Park holds a lot of memories for Isaac & Adrienne, so taking Holliday Park maternity photos was important to them.
Countless special moments in Isaac and Adrienne’s lives have taken place at Holliday Park.
You see, when they were dating, they loved to hike the trails at this Indianapolis park. With this in mind, Isaac asked Adrienne to be his wife at Holliday Park. So, they decided to do their engagement photos at Holliday Park. Then, they chose to take their wedding photos at this sweet park. And, a year later, they did their anniversary photos at Holliday Park too.
Because this park is sentimental to them, Mr. and Mrs. Fullenkamp decided to take their maternity photos at Holliday Park as well! How sweet is that?!
This is the fourth time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing the Fullenkamps at Holliday Park, and every time, we take the same photo in front of a tree that they love. From left to right, you’ll see this photo from Isaac and Adrienne’s engagement photos, their wedding day, their anniversary photos, and—now—their maternity photos!
I love that Isaac and Adrienne have made this photo a tradition, and next year, I’m sure a sweet babe will be included in this pose too!
Snowy photos take a lot of coordinating, but Isaac & Adrienne made it work!
Because Indiana tends to be a little grey, brown, and sad during the winter, Isaac and Adrienne really wanted snowy maternity photos. I told them I couldn’t make any promises, but I’d certainly do my best!
There’s nothing more unpredictable than Indiana weather, so it can be difficult to coordinate snowy photoshoots. And, scheduling snowy maternity photos can be even more challenging because the countdown is on before baby arrives!
But, Isaac and Adrienne were willing to be flexible, and as a result, we made it work!
Baby Fullenkamp is due in early spring, so at the beginning of January, Isaac, Adrienne, and I started watching the weather very closely. We got sprinkles of snow here and there, but because Isaac and Adrienne planned ahead and booked their maternity photos with plenty of buffer time, we held out for snow.
And, I’m so glad we did, because the last weekend in January brought the perfect Indiana snow storm!
Adrienne and I texted all weekend, watched the weather carefully, and tentatively planned for a sunrise session for that Monday morning. (I was booked Monday night, and not wanting to miss the snow, Isaac and Adrienne rearranged their work schedules.)
Thankfully, fluffy snow fell on Sunday, making Monday a perfect winter wonderland, and the Indy Parks Department responded to my email over the weekend to get a photo pass just in time! (To shoot at Holliday Park, you have to apply for a permit.)
Isaac and Adrienne, thank you for going with the flow! I hope you look at your photos and feel that all the coordination was worth it!
Side note: Snowy photos can be hard to arrange in Indiana, but if you’re interested, I’ll do my best to make a snow session work! Every year, I make a list of clients who want snowy photos. Then, when there is snow, I go down the list according to who inquired first and try to arrange a session. If you’re interested in getting on the snow session list, contact me here! Or, if you want guaranteed snow, I’m always happy to travel!
Congratulations, Isaac & Adrienne!
Isaac and Adrienne, as you’re already very well aware, I adore you guys. And, between your organization and loving nature, Adrienne, and your go-with-the flow and caring attitude, Isaac, I have no doubt that you are going to be amazing parents.
I cannot wait to meet you little one! In the meantime, I hope you guys love these previews from your snowy Holliday Park maternity photos in Indianapolis!
