I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
As detail oriented as Sarah is, I shouldn’t have been surprised by how perfectly her and Johnny’s wedding day came together. I mean, from their house that was essentially built to be the most perfect bridal suite to the time built into their reception that allowed Johnny and Sarah to spend quality time with each and every one of their guests, October 14, 2023 was perfect in every way.
And, now, I’m so excited to share previews from Mr. and Mrs. Underwood’s Lighthouse Restaurant wedding in Cedar Lake, Indiana on the blog!
From a photographer’s perspective, Johnny and Sarah’s wedding day began absolutely flawlessly. You see, their house looks like a model home with the best natural light. I mean, between the large windows, neural colors, and the fact that there is absolutely no clutter throughout the entire house, I could’ve sworn that Johnny and Sarah had their home built specifically for their wedding day.
Johnny and Sarah’s big day started with the two of them, their bridal parties, and their families getting ready on separate sides of the house (guys in the front and ladies in the back).
While the girls got ready, Megan (my second shooter) took candids of them enjoying the morning, and I photographed Johnny and Sarah’s stunning details. I mean, just wait until you see Sarah’s ring!
Once everyone was ready, we moved on to getting ready photos, including some PJ photos with Sarah and Charlotte (Johnny and Sarah’s beloved pup) and then Sarah and her bridesmaids. Then, Sarah shared a special few moments with her mama, Maria, who helped Sarah put on her wedding dress. (I can’t help raving about Johnny and Sarah’s house and light just one more time. I mean, wait until you see Sarah’s getting ready photos!)
Then, after Sarah was ready, she shared first looks with both her bridal party and dad. And, let’s just say that the q-tips that the bridesmaids had handy were needed. Sarah keeps her circle tight because she is committed to loving her closest friends and family members well, and all involved were so elated to see the woman who brings so much joy into their lives as a bride.
Following Sarah’s getting ready photos, we took Johnny’s getting ready photos. And, I have to say that I just adore this VRP groom. You see, while Sarah is my type-A sister, Johnny goes with the flow and always has a smile on his face.
After Johnny, Sarah, their bridal party, and their families were ready, it was time for Johnny and Sarah to share their first look, so we headed to The Lighthouse. Now, while it rained for much of the day, this wasn’t really an issue. You see, The Lighthouse has a beautiful gazebo that they use for ceremonies. This gave Johnny and Sarah the perfect spot to share their first look and private vows with the lake in the background while still being able to stay warm and dry.
Then, just like how the rain cleared at the perfect moment on the day that Johnny and Sarah met (which allowed them to play a round of golf), the rain cleared just in time to take bride and groom portraits, bridal party photos, and—of course—photos of Johnny and Sarah with sweet Charlotte.
After photos were completed, Johnny and Sarah went into hiding as their guests arrived and took their seats. Then, Johnny and Sarah became husband and wife with a beautiful, lakeside ceremony that was officiated by Sarah’s aunt.
Following their ceremony, guests were dismissed for cocktail hour while family stayed back to take family portraits. Then, with the rain coming back, Johnny and Sarah allowed me to be a bit bossy so we could fly through bride and groom portraits before the sun went down and the rain set in.
From there, it was time to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs. Underwood with the most epic reception! I mean, between the beautiful decor, great food, oh-so-sweet and funny speeches, choreographed first dance, incredible DJ and MC, and guests who showed up ready to dance, Sarah and Johnny’s celebration was everything that it should be.
Right before photo coverage wrapped for the night, we took Johnny, Sarah, and their closest friends and family outside for a “faux” sparkler exit. And, I have to say, I’m so glad these two were willing to brave the rain! I mean, if you ask me, it was certainly worth it!
After their faux exit, we hugged Johnny and Sarah goodnight, and Mr. and Mrs. Underwood went on to enjoy the remainder of their epic Lighthouse Restaurant wedding in Cedar Lake, Indiana.
Now, as detail-oriented as Sarah is, her and Johnny’s wedding day was full of countless beautiful details and special touches.
However, in my opinion, the most beautiful part of their day was their personally written vows.
You see, Johnny and Sarah didn’t write their vows together, but in many ways, their vows were identical. They both promised to never stop dating one another, to be the best parents they can be to both Charlotte (their pup) and any future children they may have, to support one another’s dreams, and to love one another for both who they are now and they become.
Their vows are evidence of how much communication and intentionality Johnny and Sarah have put into building their shared life, which is a truly beautiful thing.
Sarah and Johnny, I cannot begin to explain how honored I was that you trusted me to be your wedding photographer. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for allowing me to take your engagement photos, to celebrate with you, and to capture your first day as husband and wife.
I hope you enjoy these previews from your Lighthouse Restaurant wedding in Cedar Lake, Indiana. However, I hope you enjoy being husband and wife even more. Congratulations and best wishes, Mr. and Mrs. Underwood!
