I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
If you’d told Abby Richardson and Jared Slabaugh in 2020 that Snapchat would result in them getting married just a couple years later, I think it’s safe to say that neither one of them would’ve believed you—especially considering they didn’t even know of one another or have any mutual friends.
However, just two years ago, Jared followed Abby on Snapchat thinking she was somebody else, and Abby accepted his request because she also mistook him for someone else. Abby and Jared seemingly lived in different worlds and had no reason to meet, but their mutual “mistake” led to their wedding day.
On Saturday, October 1, 2022, Abby and Jared became husband and wife with a boho-inspired Miami County Fairgrounds wedding in Peru, Indiana. And, I’m so excited to share Mr. and Mrs. Slabaugh’s wedding—which included both incredible weather and perfect boho details—on the blog!
With a huge guest list (Their list started with about 500 people!) and knowing that they had the resources and talent to transform any space into the perfect wedding venue, Jared and Abby decided to have their wedding at the Miami County Fairgrounds in Peru, Indiana.
They knew the gorgeous property would allow them to have a beautiful ceremony, give them plenty of space to host their friends and family, and allow them to have their ceremony and reception just yards from each other, which made their day seamless and fun.
Abby and Jared’s wedding day started with Abby and her girl’s getting ready in the Miami County Fairgrounds’ office building, which happens to include a conference room with great light. This conference room was transformed into the perfect bridal suite for Abby and her nine bridesmaids.
While Abby and her girls got ready, I had the pleasure of photographing Abby and Jared’s perfect, boho details, which Abby graciously had ready to go for me. Guys, I cannot wait for you to scroll and see these images. Jared and Abby just picked the most stunning details, and these little touches really brought their boho vision to life!
After the girls were ready and the details were photographed, Abby got ready with the help of her mama, Jennifer, and this was truly an emotional moment. Abby and Jen both did so much to prepare for this special day, and when Abby got into her dress, I think everything hit them at once: Abby was getting married.
After Jared was ready and Abby shared a sweet first look with her bridesmaids and then an even sweeter first look with her dad, Abby and Jared shared their first look, which was also very emotional.
While they did traditional vows during their ceremony, Jared and Abby read their written vows to one another after their first look. And, I have to say that it was so special to witness and capture this sweet moment.
After tears were dried and makeup was touched up, it was time for bride and groom, bridal party, and family photos. Abby and Jared wanted the gap between their ceremony and reception to be as short as possible. As a result, they decided to take as many photos as they could before their ceremony.
Following photos, Abby and Jared became husband and wife with an outdoor ceremony that was just beautiful. And, while we are on the topic, I do want to give a shout out to Farm House Decor, which is owned by Jen (Abby’s mom) and her best friend Patty, who also happens to be a VRP mama since I had the pleasure of photographing her son and daughter-in-law’s wedding in 2019.
Jen and Patty offer custom woodworking and decor, and they created almost all of the decor from Abby and Jared’s celebration. Every last detail was truly amazing, and whether you’re looking for wood elements for your own wedding or customer decor for your home, I highly recommend checking out Farm House Decor!
After Abby and Jared were officially husband and wife and confetti was popped, guests moved on to cocktail hour while we took a few more bride and groom portraits before Abby and Jared made their grand entrance to their reception, which included some truly incredible food that was catered by Jared’s family.
Between the perfect weather, decor that was as Abby said, “better than Pinterest,” and a whole lot of love, Jared and Abby’s wedding day was perfect in every way. Abby and Jared, I hope you so enjoyed your first day as husband and wife! It was a magical, boho-filled day!
As I’ve gotten to know Abby and Jared over the last year, I’ve been so impressed by how kind, thoughtful, and resourceful they are. And, I’ve been particularly impressed by this, because they are both still very young. (Abby graduated from high school just last year!)
But, after getting to meet and spend time with their families and friends on their wedding day, I can now attest that Abby and Jared are the wonderful people and couple that they are, because they have people who are just as kind, thoughtful, and hardworking in their own lives.
Abby and Jared put in a lot of work to make their dream wedding possible but so did their loved ones. I mean, Jen and Patty (who is basically an aunt to Abby) created most of the decor. Sarah, one of Abby’s bridesmaids, created all of the gorgeous bouquets. And, Jared’s family handled the catering.
As we packed up our gear at the end of the night, Megan (my second shooter) said, “It’s so impressive how this family, on both sides, came together to make today possible. It’s amazing.”
Abby and Jared, you’re two amazing people who are surrounded by a wonderful community and support system, and I know you give each and every one of those part of your tribe the same love and support. I hope and pray that your marriage is always filled with this much—if not more—love and kindness between the two of you, your families, and your friends who are like family.
Jared and Abby, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer! It’s been so much fun to get to know the two of you over the last year, and it was truly an honor to witness your first day of marriage and to experience the incredible wedding day you created.
While I cannot wait to share your full gallery with you, I hope you and your loved ones love these previews from your boho-inspired Miami County Fairgrounds wedding in Peru, Indiana!
Abby’s mom (Jen) and her business partner (Patty) at Farm House Decor created this rack just for the purpose of hanging dresses in the bridal suite. Isn’t it amazing?! Jen did so much to make Abby and Jared’s wedding day possible. While she’d been very busy, as she helped Abby get into her dress, I think it’s safe to say everything hit her at once. Jen’s baby girl was getting married! Can we talk about these florals?! Abby’s cousin and bridesmaid Sarah Browne did an amazing job creating these perfectly boho bouquets! Abby just has the most genuine smile! I’ve so enjoyed every chance I’ve had to get Abby and Jared in front of the camera over the last year. Abby and Jared had both the perfect weather and the perfect sunset for their Miami County Fairgrounds wedding. Gosh. I cannot wait to share their full gallery with them!
