I look forward to all weddings, but because I was so excited about this one, it took FOREVER for Randy and Alaina’s big day to get here. Fortunately, their wedding at the Lafayette, Indiana Country Club was worth the wait!
I met Alaina a little more than three years ago when I started working at Treefrog Marketing. She had just finished her freshman year at Indiana University and was working as an intern. When I started, I had no idea that Alaina was only a freshman. She carried herself with dignity and professionalism and was an incredible writer (We worked in the content department), and I assumed she was near graduating. My jaw dropped when I found out that wasn’t the case!
After completing her internship, Alaina came back to work for Treefrog every summer and during most breaks. Because she’s every bit as sweet as she is smart, the whole office always looked forward to her return. During her senior year, we asked her to start working remotely because she’s so talented. And, I’m so happy to say that when I left Treefrog to pursue photography full time, Alaina took my position!
Because I love and respect Alaina so much, I was incredibly honored when she and Randy (who is attending IU’s School of Optometry) asked me to photograph their wedding!
Randy & Alaina met through a nondenominational Christian group at IU. A mutual friend introduced them, and according to Alaina, the friend brought Randy over and said, “Alaina, this is Randy. He’s Catholic too!”
Through this Christian group and the parish on campus, Randy and Alaina’s paths kept crossing. They became part of the same friend group that did everything together, and at some point during their freshman year of college, Randy and Alaina went from fellow Catholics to friends to boyfriend and girlfriend.
Randy and Alaina’s faith has always been at the center of their relationship, and all of their friends and family know this. In fact, their faith was mentioned and admired by their priest during the ceremony and Alaina’s dad and maid of honor during their speeches.
I’m so excited to see how God uses Randy and Alaina’s marriage!
My favorite couples to work with are the brides and grooms who are more excited to be married than to have a wedding. Don’t get me wrong; your wedding day should be fun, but your wedding is just a day, while your marriage is a lifetime and much more important than bouquets, bridesmaid dresses, etc.
Since getting engaged, Randy and Alaina have definitely been more marriage focused than wedding focused. Through premarital counseling, studying scripture, and working together to make decisions (both about their wedding and their lives), they’ve started their marriage with a great foot forward.
Randy and Alaina, I hope you’re loving every second as Mr. and Mrs.!
After tying the knot at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, stopping by Chumley’s, riding around in their party bus from Lafayette Limo, and taking photos, Randy and Alaina made their grand entrance for their wedding at the Lafayette, Indiana Country Club.
They enjoyed an evening of great food, beautiful (and funny) toasts, a lot of dancing, and a few family traditions that I’ll let Randy and Alaina share with you if they like!
Randy and Alaina, congratulations on becoming husband and wife! It was such an honor to photograph your wedding.
My prayer for the two of you is that your life together is filled with blessings, that you’ll use your marriage to bring God glory, and that every trial will bring you closer together and closer to Christ.
Best wishes, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Fortkamp!
