I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
The wedding I’m most likely to cry at in 2021? Caleb and Olivia’s for sure!
Now, you might recognize Olivia. She’s one of my primary second shooters (2020 and 2021 VRP brides and grooms, about half of you have met Liv!) and one of the hardest-working, most detail-oriented people I know while having A LOT on her plate.
I could gush about Liv forever, but long story short, I adore her, Caleb, and their little girl, and when Olivia asked if I’d be their wedding photographer, “honored” doesn’t even begin to explain how I felt.
I cannot wait to photograph and celebrate with these two at their New Journey Farms wedding, but today, I’m thrilled to share Caleb and Olivia’s Newfields engagement photos and a bit of their love story on the blog!
At this point, it’s hard to imagine Caleb or Olivia without the other, but just a few years ago, Olivia wasn’t so sure about going on a date with one of her best friend’s cousins.
Olivia and Kale were good friends in high school, and Caleb and Kale (who are cousins) spent a lot of time together. As a result, Olivia was constantly hearing about Caleb, and Caleb was constantly hearing about Olivia. Eventually, Kale introduced them, and Caleb asked for Liv’s number.
Olivia was a junior in high school at the time, and Caleb was in college. She wasn’t sure about dating someone older or about dating her best friend’s cousin, so Olivia turned Caleb down when he asked if they could go to dinner. In fact, she turned him down three or four times.
However, after a lot of texting back and forth and with Kale’s encouragement, Liv decided to give Caleb a chance. They went to dinner and then spent FOUR hours just talking about life.
When Caleb took Liv home at the end of the night, her mom asked her how their date went, and Olivia—who is often pretty reserved—said, “Mom, I’m pretty sure I’m going to marry him.”
Since then, Caleb and Olivia have finished (Caleb) and started (Olivia) college, begun their careers, purchased a house, and welcomed a little girl into the world. On top of that, Olivia second shoots for me and has her own photography and VA business. (Photographer friends, if you’re looking for a VA, Liv is your girl!)
Caleb and Olivia have a lot on their plate, and while sometimes “date night” looks like grocery shopping and grabbing takeout, they do an incredible job of prioritizing one another, Mia, and the people they love most.
Caleb and Olivia had to grow up fast, but they’re crushing life, and I have no doubt that their family and friends are nothing but proud of them. I mean, I’m SO proud of them!
Just a couple years after Olivia told her mom that she was going to marry Caleb, Liv knew that Caleb was looking at rings, and she anxiously waited for him to pop the question.
Now, Caleb had a couple proposal ideas and was going to wait a little longer. However, the perfect opportunity presented itself, and Caleb just couldn’t wait.
In February 2020, Caleb and Olivia did a weekend getaway in Indy with some of their closest friends. The weekend included great food, good company, and some quality time for Caleb and Liv, who were still pretty new parents.
One night, they went to Topgolf. Everyone was laughing and having a good time, and as Caleb looked around, he became almost overwhelmed with how thankful he was to get to do life with Olivia. So, when it was Olivia’s turn to drive, Caleb grabbed the ring out of his pocket. Liv played her turn, and when she turned around, Caleb was on one knee.
Caleb spontaneously asked his best friend and the mama of his little girl to be his wife in front of their closest friends. And, if you know Caleb and Liv, you know that this proposal couldn’t have been any more perfect!
Liv does everything with perfection. (This makes her the best photographer and second shooter by the way!) She and Caleb are planning a very elegant wedding at New Journey Farms, and I was not at all surprised when she asked if we could do her and Caleb’s engagement photos at Newfields. I mean, this location has “Liv” written all over it!Caleb and Olivia arrived in more formal outfits (Just wait until you see Liv’s dress!) and let Shelby (my 2021 intern) and me take them all around the Lily House. Then, after changing into more casual outfits, we took them into the gardens.
And, I have to say that while I spend a lot of time with Liv, I really haven’t had the pleasure of spending much time with Caleb. I mean, I pretty much see him in McDonald’s parking lots before and after weddings so Liv can jump between vehicles!
Hearing about him from Olivia, I knew Caleb was great. But, after getting to spend two hours with him, I can say that I adore him! Caleb, you’re so sweet and fun to hang out with and bring Liv the balance she needs. (Olivia and I are a lot alike, so I can say this!)
Caleb and Liv, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer. Olivia, you mean so much to me, and the opportunity to shoot your wedding means more than I can explain.
I cannot wait for your gorgeous New Journey Farms wedding or to see how God uses your marriage. But, for now, I hope you love these previews from your Newfields engagement photos!
