A proposal DURING an engagement session?! This might sound a bit confusing, but you’re about to read the sweetest proposal story, and I’m so excited to share Griffey and Erinn Saylor’s engagement and proposal photos at Coxhall Gardens in Carmel, Indiana on the blog!
Erinn knew Griffey was the one when he stepped in & loved her son as his own.
Now, before I share Erinn and Griffey’s proposal story with you, I have to share a bit of their love story, because it’s a beautiful story.
You see, Erinn and Griffey met the summer before Erinn’s senior year of high school and Griffey’s freshman year of college. At the time, they were both in relationships, but they certainly noticed one another.
The following summer, Griffey came home and began working at Dairy Queen again. This time, though, Erinn and Griffey were both single. But, Erinn was expecting a baby boy.
Erinn and Griffey became good friends at work, and Griffey asked Erinn if she wanted to see a movie. From that night forward, Erinn and Griffey were more than friends. Griffey was so in love with Erinn that when Brantley was born just months later, Griffey looked at Brantley as if he were his own son. And, because of this, Erinn had no doubt that Griffey was the one.

Now, back to this sweet couple’s proposal story!
You might be confused as to why Griffey proposed during their engagement photos, and you’re likely going to be even more confused when I tell you that Erinn and Griffey are actually already married, but here’s what happened.
Erinn and Griffey knew they wanted to spend their lives together, and in 2020, they were in the process of Griffey legally adopting Erinn’s son, which was going to be easier if Erinn and Griffey were legally married.
Between this and COVID, Griffey and Erinn decided to get married at the courthouse and celebrate with family and friends big in October 2021. (I cannot wait for this sweet couple’s wedding day at Vintage Oaks!)
Wanting to upgrade Erinn’s ring and because they never had a true proposal, Griffey called me with an idea. He wanted to formally propose during their engagement photos!
Griffey and I came up with a plan, and when I worked in the codeword we’d decided on, Griffey got down on one knee and asked his wife to be his wife for the rest of their lives. Then, he showed Erinn her new, GORGEOUS engagement ring!
Griffey and Erinn, you have a beautiful love story, and Griffey, I so admire how you made this traditional moment and memory possible for your bride. Never forget to love each other as deeply and well as you are right now!

Wanting a little nature, mix of pretty architecture, and flowers, Erinn and Griffey decided to take their engagement and proposal photos at Coxhall Gardens in Carmel, Indiana. (To be fair, Erinn had no idea the proposal was coming!)
And, I have to say that I had so much fun with these two walking all over the grounds! I loved hearing about the custom cupcakes they’re creating with Little Miss Cupcakes for their wedding, how Brantly likes being in front of the camera, the incredible community they clearly have, and how when they travel, they always check out restaurants they don’t have at home. (I can’t remember the exact cupcake combination, but I know there’s chocolate, cookie dough, and peanut butter, and considering Stephanie of Little Miss Cupcakes is making them, they’re sure to be incredible!)
Basically, Erinn and Griffey are such a sweet, genuine, fun couple, and their engagement session made me even more excited for their wedding day!
