I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
When Kathleen explained her and Hunter’s wedding plan to me during our coffee date, I was both floored and SO excited for this incredible VRP bride and groom!
I mean, as a wedding photographer, I’ve witnessed many couples forgo various wedding traditions. However, I can honestly say that this was the very first wedding I’ve ever witnessed a couple decide to skip their reception and go to a concert instead!
I think it’s safe to say that Hunter Allbaugh and Kathleen Trimble loved every minute of their wedding day, and I’m so excited to share photos from their nontraditional but elegant, black-and-white wedding in Converse, Indiana on the blog!
I actually met Kathleen a few years ago when she did makeup for Wyatt and Kaelyn Willson’s wedding. By the way, Kathleen owns KT Beauty Co. and is an amazing makeup artist. If you’re looking for a makeup artist for your big day, I highly recommend her!
But, because I’ve known Kathleen for the last couple years, I knew she was a very well connected woman with a lot of close friends and family. As a result, I expected that she and Hunter would have a HUGE wedding. However, when we met for coffee, I found out Kathleen and Hunter had other plans.
Kathleen more or less told me, “We are blessed to have a lot of great people in our lives, and we want to be able to celebrate with them all. However, on our wedding day, we want to be able to relax and spend time with the people closest to us, and we just don’t think we can do that if we have a reception of 400+ people.”
With this in mind, Hunter and Kathleen designed a wedding day that allowed them to spend their first day as husband and wife exactly how they wanted AND serve and love the people in their lives well.
Hunter and Kathleen’s wedding day began with both the girls and the guys getting ready at Kathleen’s Grandma Judy’s house in Amboy, Indiana. With lots of space to spread out and tons of natural light, it was as if Grandma Judy’s house was built for a wedding morning!
After taking detail and getting ready photos for both Hunter and Kathleen, Hunter and Kathleen shared their first look and communion under the shade of a beautiful tree in Grandma Judy’s yard.
We were then able to take bride and groom, bridal party, and family photos under the same tree before heading to Converse Church of Christ for Hunter and Kathleen’s wedding in Converse, Indiana.
After Hunter and Kathleen exchange vows and were officially announced as husband and wife, this is where their day truly became interesting and fun!
You see, Hunter and Kathleen knew that even if they didn’t have a big wedding reception, their parents, grandparents, and other loved ones would still want to see and experience Hunter and Kathleen’s first dance, cake cutting, speeches, and other special wedding traditions.
As a result, after exiting their ceremony and bustling Kathleen’s dress, Hunter and Kathleen reentered the sanctuary and shared their first dance, danced with their parents, heard speeches from their maid of honor and best man, and cut their cake so that their guests—who PACKED the very large sanctuary by the way—could be part of these sweet moments.
Then, after these traditions, Hunter, Kathleen, and their families invited guests to join them in the fellowship hall for a short open-house-style reception with cupcakes. Then, about an hour later, Hunter and Kathleen made their grand exit from the church and headed to Noblesville, Indiana for a few more portraits AND to see Jason Aldean in concert at Ruoff with their bridal party!
While their wedding may not have been completely traditional, Kathleen wanted to make sure their big day was elegant. I think Hunter and Kathleen’s white and black color palette accomplished exactly that! And, wanting to give Hunter and Kathleen some variety for their portraits and to choose a location that was conducive to the rest of their wedding day plans, Kathleen, Hunter, and I decided that taking the last of their wedding photos in downtown Noblesville, Indiana at the Hamilton County Courthouse would work perfectly!
After wrapping up photo and video coverage (thanks to the incredible Jared of 6th Day Films) at 6:30 pm, we hugged Mr. and Mrs. Allbaugh, and they went to see Jason Aldean!
In my opinion, one of the blessings that came from COVID was the almost unspoken permission it gave couples to let traditions go and plan their weddings to be exactly what they want the celebration to be. I mean, that’s exactly what Hunter and Kathleen did!
I don’t want to speak for Hunter and Kathleen, but based on the smiles on their faces and the comments they made throughout the day, I think it’s safe to say that these two couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend their first day as husband and wife. And, if you ask me, that’s a truly beautiful thing!
Also, Jason Aldean should be truly flattered that Hunter and Kathleen decided to make his show part of their wedding day. I mean, Mr. and Mrs. Allbaugh are such fun, amazing people, and I hope Mr. Aldean knows what an honor it was to have these newlyweds in the crowd!
Hunter and Kathleen, I cannot begin to tell you how much (1) I adore you or (2) what an honor it was to be trusted as your wedding photographer.
I hope and pray that you always approach life and marriage how you approached your wedding day: loving those around you well but ultimately putting one another first.
I hope you love these previews from your wedding in Converse, Indiana!
Kathleen’s beautiful ring belonged to her grandmother. With just a few little updates, this ring is perfectly Kathleen in every way! Kathleen’s something borrowed included this beautiful emerald necklace and a few other pieces of matching jewelry, which were a gift to Kathleen’s grandmother on her own wedding day. Because Kathleen is close to both her mama and her now mother-in-law, she wanted to include them both in her getting ready photos. I thought this was such a sweet gesture! Also, I want to give a huge shout out to Hunter and Kathleen’s parents. Mindy, Kevin, Jenny, and Jim were all so kind and helpful all day, and they truly respected exactly what their kids’ wanted this day to be. As a professional makeup artist, Kathleen did her own makeup for her big day! I’ve worked with Kathleen multiple times as a wedding vendor, and she does amazing work. If you’re looking for a makeup artist for your big day, be sure to check out KT Beauty Co.! After their first look, Hunter and Kathleen shared communion. I just love that this was something that was clearly so important to them on their wedding day. Pretty sure it doesn’t get more classic and timeless than a black and white color palette! This bridal party looked amazing! After their ceremony and cupcake reception, we drove to downtown Noblesville to grab a few more bride and groom portraits before Hunter and Kathleen headed to the show. And, I’m so glad we did. Aren’t Mr. and Mrs. Allbaugh stunning?! They’re such a classic couple!
