I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
When I met Kurtis Markiewicz and Cassidy Shepherd for our coffee date, I asked them what their biggest wedding priorities were. Without skipping a beat, they said, “Being surrounded by our friends and family, celebrating our love, and creating a day we will forever remember.”
And, friends, I’m excited to share that Kurtis and Cassidy’s dream wedding came to fruition! On Saturday, November 12, 2022, Kurtis and Cassidy celebrated their marriage with the most joy-filled, energetic, and stunning wedding at New Journey Farms. And, now, I’m thrilled to share previews from Mr. and Mrs. Markiewicz’s wedding on the blog!
Before you see Kurtis and Cassidy’s photos, I want to give this couple major props for rolling with the punches and not letting anything prevent them from focusing on what’s most important—one another and their loved ones.
You see, Kurtis and Cassidy planned a fall wedding. While they knew that the leaves might be a bit sparse, they did NOT expect to wake up to snow on their big day. Rather than getting upset, Kurtis and Cassidy laughed the weather off and were simply ecstatic to get married!
Another bump Kurtis and Cassidy had to face was that their wedding photographer (yes, I) got COVID. While I had been so looking forward to celebrating with Kurtis and Cassidy, I woke up feeling sick the day before their wedding and then tested positive for COVID.
Thankfully, Erika Wetterlin of Erika Aileen Photography—who is a phenomenal photographer and person—was able to step in and associate shoot Kurtis and Cassidy’s wedding. Essentially, I’ll still edit all photos and make sure Kurtis and Cassidy receive the full VRP experience, but Erika physically photographed their wedding. While I so wish I could’ve been there, I know that Kurtis and Cassidy were in the best hands with Erika and Olivia (my regular second shooter). I mean, just wait until you see the photos that they took!
Kurtis and Cassidy, everyone reading this blog post can learn something from you. While the two of you could have chosen to be upset about the things that went “wrong,” the two of you were nothing but kind. I mean, Cassidy, I was so nervous to have to call and tell you that we were going to have to move to plan B, but I’ll never forget how gracious you were during that phone call.
I hope and pray that the two of you approach life just as you approached wedding planning—focused on one another and not sweating the things you can’t control. The two of you are some of the best ones, and I have no doubt that life you share will be beautiful.
After Kurtis and Cassidy’s gorgeous wedding at New Journey Farms, Erika told me all about Kurtis and Cassidy’s big day. While a very pumped and enthusiastic bridal party and an incredible father of the bride speech were certainly highlights from the day, Erika said Kurtis’s reaction to the letter Cassidy wrote him may’ve been the sweetest part of the day.
You see, Kurtis isn’t a crier. In fact, when I met Kurtis and Cassidy for our coffee date and they decided that they’d like to do a first look, Cassidy more or less said, “I think a first look sounds like a great idea for the sake of the schedule, but there’s no way Kurtis is going to cry. He isn’t a crier.”
Well, my friends, as it turns out, on the day that Kurtis got to marry the love of his life, he did shed a few tears—both when reading Cassidy’s letter and during their first look. If you scroll, you’ll see plenty of photo evidence to prove it!
Kurtis and Cassidy, while I was disappointed to have to miss your big day, I have to say that as I edited your photos, I became even more disappointed to miss your celebration. I mean, it’s evident that you guys had the most epic wedding!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting Erika, Olivia, and I to be your wedding photographers. While I cannot wait to share your full gallery with you, I hope you love these previews from your wedding at New Journey Farms in Lafayette, Indiana!
Like I mentioned before, Kurtis isn’t typically a crier, but Cassidy’s letter did bring him to tears. According to Erika and Olivia, Kurtis and Cassidy had the most enthusiastic bridal party! Kurtis and Cassidy are amazing people, and it truly shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who knows them that Mr. and Mrs. Markiewicz had a bridal party of 20! While Kurtis and Cassidy were willing to brave the snow for a bit, New Journey Farms has phenomenal natural light indoors. As a result, Kurtis, Cassidy, and their bridal party were able to take photos while being warm! Want to see more of Kurtis and Cassidy? Check out their spring engagement photos in Lebanon, Indiana! According to Erika, one of the sweetest moments of the day was the father of the bride speech. In his speech, Cassidy’s dad shared that adopting Cassidy when he married her mom was the highlight of his life. Between this incredible couple and their gorgeous venue, I was very disappointed that I couldn’t be there for Kurtis and Cassidy’s big day. And, when I found out that DJ Sunn of RatPak Mobile DJs was their DJ, I was even more disappointed! I mean, few can pack a dance floor like DJ Sunn! Loving this wedding venue?
