Between having a baby (Wait until you see sweet Colt!), building a house, a global pandemic, planning a wedding, and then replanning their wedding when the coronavirus caused Indiana to lock down, 2020 has been more than a little crazy for Cory and Emmy.
But, on Saturday, July 18, Cory and Emmy were finally able to celebrate their wedding at Wea Creek Orchard in Lafayette, Indiana, and I’m so excited to share their gorgeous, joy-filled wedding on the blog!
It only takes a few minutes of knowing Cory and Emmy to realize that their families (including their friends who are like family) mean everything to them.
Emmy is one of ten kids, and she’s the ONLY girl! It’s clear that her brothers are protective of her and that she loves them fiercely. In the meantime, Cory’s family is so close that they nearly all (including Cory and Emmy) work for the family business—Farney’s Service Center in Wolcott, Indiana. (Family businesses are no joke! Cory’s family’s ability to work together is a testament to how loving this sweet family is!)
Cory and Emmy prioritize family above all, and throughout the wedding planning process and on their wedding day, it was clear that Cory and Emmy wanted their family to feel included and to have a great time. Between how helpful Cory and Emmy’s mamas (Tishia and Katina) were and how much fun everyone clearly had, I think it’s safe to say that Cory and Emmy’s families are elated for this amazing couple and had a BLAST at Cory and Emmy’s Wea Creek Orchard wedding!
Not only did Cory and Emmy work hard to make sure that their families enjoyed their big day, but they also took time during their ceremony to honor their family members who are no longer with us.
At Cory and Emmy’s altar, they displayed photos of their grandparents and other loved ones who have passed away. I think it’s safe to say that we all thought that the photos would stay where they were and were simply decor.
However, during their ceremony, Cory and Emmy picked up these framed photos—through tears—and placed them on the seats where these loved ones would’ve been sitting if they were still with us today.
As a wedding photographer, I kind of thought I’d seen it all at this point, but I’ve never seen deceased loved ones honored in this way. This was one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed and was a true testament to how much Cory and Emmy value family.
Before the coronavirus changed their plans, Cory and Emmy planned to get married in May 2020. They thought they would have a breezy, spring wedding.
With their wedding moved back to July, however, Cory and Emmy became husband and wife on the hottest day of 2020 so far. Although they were toasty, Cory, Emmy, and their loved ones didn’t let the heat take away from any of their celebration!
Not only did everyone have a wonderful time celebrating the happy couple, but Corey and Emmy’s wedding at Wea Creek Orchard was also stunning! Tishia (Emmy’s mom) spent months crafting the perfect blush and floral decor. I have no idea how she did it, but Cory and Emmy’s wedding looked nothing less than professionally designed! (Tishia says that after this, she’s retired from weddings though, so don’t ask for her help! Ha!)
Basically, Cory and Emmy’s wedding day was amazing, and even with 95+ temps, I don’t think any of their guests will ever think back to Mr. and Mrs. Wang’s big day with anything but fun, wonderful memories!
Cory and Emmy, I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am for the two of you or how honored I was to be your wedding photographer!
You guys have been through so much over the last year, but you’ve conquered it all. For the rest of your days, I pray that you continue to overcome every obstacle just like you have in 2020—together.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Wang! I hope you (and your families) love these previews from your wedding at Wea Creek Orchard in Lafayette, Indiana!
They’re the sweetest little family!
Talk about a tear jerker! During Cory and Emmy’s ceremony, they reserved a seat for each of their deceased grandparents and other loved ones who are no longer with us. During their ceremony, Cory and Emmy set a photo of each of these loved ones in the seat where they should’ve been sitting. This was such a beautiful way to honor the people who have helped make Cory and Emmy the people they are today.
Colt’s mommy and daddy are married!
Emmy’s mom, Tishia, did an amazing job with all the decor! I mean, just WOW!
I love that they included Colt in their first dance!
I couldn’t help grabbing a photo with his oh-so-sweet bride and groom! Please note that this was the only moment where a mask wasn’t worn and social distancing was broken. We were fast! With Indiana’s new mask regulations, however, photos like this won’t be happening again anytime soon though!
