I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
It’s an honor to photograph and share previews from every wedding. But, guys, if I’m honest, I don’t know if I’ve ever been as honored to shoot a wedding as I was to photograph Richard and Maclaren’s, because these two are family!
Richard is my cousin, and I was elated when he and his bride-to-be asked me to be their wedding photographer. And, now, I’m thrilled to be able to share previews from Richard and Maclaren’s wedding at Whippoorwill Hill in Bloomington, Indiana on the blog!
Between Richard traveling for work (He’s in the National Guard.), the coronavirus, and planning a wedding in the midst of constant new social distancing mandates and updates, it would’ve been very easy for Richard and Maclaren to have let wedding planning get the best of them or keep them on edge. However, through this whole process, Richard and Maclaren have kept their hearts and minds on what’s most important—getting married.
As excited as they were for their big day and as beautiful as it was (Seriously! Stunning!), Richard and Maclaren didn’t let the stress of wedding planning or a global pandemic waiver their excitement for becoming husband and wife.
In fact, a few minutes before their first look, Richard told me through a smile, “I’m tired of her not being my wife.”
Despite the chaos of 2020 and then rain on their wedding day, Richard and Maclaren’s wedding day was full of nothing but joy.
Richard and Maclaren, Zach and I love you both so much, and we hope and pray that you approach life you share just like you did planning a 2020 wedding—always prioritizing and caring for one another.
Now, like I said before, Richard and Maclaren’s big day was beautiful! Between their neo-mint color palette, their succulent decor, and Maclaren’s gorgeous gown (which was custom to her since she decided to add off-the-shoulder capped sleeves to her originally strapless dress), their wedding was what wedding dreams are made of!
On top of all of this, Richard and Maclaren chose an incredible venue that could not be anymore ideal for rain or social distancing!
You’ll see what I mean when you see photos of the gorgeous Whippoorwill Hill barn and grounds below, but basically, the awnings on the side of the barn were a HUGE blessing that allowed us to (1) take maskless photos outside and (2) keep Richard, Maclaren, and their loved ones covered and dry!
Whippoorwill Hill was clearly designed with countless wedding-day obstacles (like rain) in mind, and Richard and Maclaren chose an incredible venue and made it even more lovely with their countless gorgeous details!
Richard and Maclaren, I can’t begin to tell you how honored I was to be your wedding photographer or how happy I am for the two of you. And, Maclaren, welcome to the family!
You two are some of the kindest souls who have ever lived, and your wedding day couldn’t have been anymore lovely or true to who you are as a couple.
I hope you love these previews from your wedding at Whippoorwill Hill in Bloomington, Indiana, and I can’t wait to see you guys at the next family get together!
Zach and I love you, and please know that we will always be here for you both. XO
See what I mean about the awnings? They were so perfect for rainy portraits!
Maclaren is simply gorgeous!
And, this is why you take groom “getting ready” photos and include his parents. Parents of the groom have happy tears to cry too! (Side note: I adore my Aunt Melissa so much. If you’re an expecting or postpartum mama in the Bloomington area, you should definitely consider visiting her at Flora Massage & Wellness!
I also adore this baby cousin of mine! Richard, you’re so handsome!
Friends, this is why you do a first look.
We got just enough of a gap for some bride and groom portraits!
Even with a first look, Richard still cried when his bride came down the aisle.
Richard and Maclaren asked our Grandpa Dick—whom Richard is named after—to say a prayer during their ceremony. In typical Grandpa fashion, he couldn’t help sharing a story. All of Grandma and Grandpa Berenda’s grandkids are so blessed to have them both!
After their ceremony, we got another gap in the rain! Knowing it was going to rain for the rest of the night, Richard and Maclaren agreed to spend a little extra time focusing on bride and groom portraits since we wouldn’t be able to get sunset photos. Sometimes, you just have to go with the flow! I hope Richard and Maclaren feel it was worth it! I sure do!
The cows framed Mac and Richard perfectly! This couldn’t g\have been planned any better if we’d tried!
Hooray for mask wearing on the dance floor! With the easy outdoor access, Whippoorwill Hill made it so easy to feel comfortable while socially distancing.
I, of course, needed a photo with this amazing VRP bride and groom/my cousins!
