Cody and Britney’s wedding day has been a long time coming. In fact, Mr. and Mrs. Pitzer are MIDDLE SCHOOL sweethearts! (You can read more of their Nicholas-Sparks-worthy love story here.)
On Saturday, September 4, 2021, Cody and Britney officially became husband and wife, and I’m so excited to share their Wildcat Conservation Club wedding in Mulberry, Indiana on the blog!
More often than not, couples choose their wedding venue simply because they like the aesthetic or for convenience. However, Cody and Britney chose their venue because it has meaning to them.
You see, Cody and Britney met as kids and were one another’s very first real boyfriend and girlfriend. While they started dating in middle school and dated through high school, they went their separate ways for a few years and fate brought them back together. (Their love story is truly epic. You can read more here!)
But, at just 13 and 14 years old, these two knew they’d found somebody special. And, one day, while they sat on the swings outside the Wildcat Conservation Club, Cody and Britney said, “I love you,” for the very first time.
Life has thrown a lot of twists and turns in their story, but Cody and Britney have loved one another for a long time, and as Britney told Cody during their vows, “It’s always been you. There’s always been just you.”
Cody and Britney shared their vows just yards away from the same swings, making their venue choice—in my opinion—the sweetest venue choice of all time!
Speaking of twists and turns throughout their relationship, Cody and Britney were certainly thrown for a loop on their wedding day when it rained nearly all day long!
While rain on a wedding day isn’t typically a big deal, it was on Cody and Britney’s wedding day, because these two and their loved ones put a lot of work into planning Cody and Britney’s outdoor wedding.
In fact, they even laid fresh mulch and planted flowers in Wildcat Conservation Club’s ceremony space!
When it was clear the rain wasn’t going to let up any time soon, plan B went into place. (Largely thanks to Britney’s stepmom, Cindy. She’s a saint!) I was worried that Cody and Britney would be disappointed, and while they were, they weren’t going to let a little rain take away from their joy and excitement to finally be husband and wife.
So, we fixed them up with clear umbrellas, and this bride, groom, and their loved ones embraced it!
Cody and Britney, I have no doubt that you’ll approach the life you share the same way: hand in hand, smiling, and not wasting a moment thinking about “what could’ve been.” I just adore you guys!
Mr. and Mrs. Pitzer, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer! I’ve loved getting to know the two of you, your five sweet boys, and the people you love most.
As much as the two of you have endured together already, there’s no doubt in my mind that your marriage will be one that stands firm for all your days.
Now, while I hope you love these previews from your Wildcat Conservation Club wedding in Mulberry, Indiana, I hope you’re loving officially being husband and wife and your honeymoon even more! Congratulations!
I have to say that I was really touched during this moment, and I also realized why Britney is such a great stepmom to her and Cody’s three oldest boys. During Britney’s getting ready photos, Tammy (Britney’s mom) said to me, “Please be sure to get the same shots with Cindy.” Cindy is Britney’s stepmom. It was a magical thing to witness Britney’s two mamas love their daughter and one another so well on Britney’s wedding day.
For the sake of getting these photos, I told Cody to go to each of their little guys and straighten their bowties. Cody did great, but the boys kept moving. At one point, he went to straighten a little guys’ tie, and the kiddo said, “Dad, you already did mine!”
While these little guys are so well behaved, I have no idea how Cody and Britney keep everything straight. They’re amazing parents for sure!
We waited for a gap in the rain, but eventually, Britney said, “What if we just embrace it?” I love this girl! It was pouring, but these little guys did so well! When they’re adults, I hope they all see this photo and remember how much fun Mom and Dad’s wedding day was! Due to the rain, Cody and Britney ended up moving their ceremony to the pavilion they were using for the reception. However, their ceremony space—which they personally mulched and planted flowers in by the way—was too lovely not to share! There was a gap in the rain right after the ceremony, which allowed us to take Cody and Britney’s “just married” photos in their original ceremony space! I’ll never understand how Mackenzie of Something Blue Bakery does it. This cake was literally perfection! Want to see more of Cody and Britney?
