I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
As a wedding photographer, I’ve reached a point where I almost never cry at weddings anymore. You just get busy and are focused on doing your job.
But, at Grant and Kiersten Tomlin’s wedding, I was a bit of a blubbering mess behind my camera and mask.
I mean I—and just about everyone else in the room—was in tears when Kiersten promised Grant that she’d “never stop getting to know [him]” as they both change over the years, when Mark (Grant’s dad) said in his toast that he’d been praying for Kiersten since the day Grant was born, and when Grant said over and over again throughout the day, “I can’t believe I get to marry her today.”
It’s a beautiful thing when two people who love Jesus decide to get married. And with this in mind, I’m so excited to share Mr. and Mrs. Tomlin’s wedding at The Matterhorn in Elkhart, Indiana on the blog!
From their gorgeous, pastel color palette to every perfectly thought-out detail, Grant and Kiersten’s wedding was certainly lovely. (I mean, Kiersten’s mom is a hairstylist and her grandmother is a florist. This sweet family knows how to throw a beautiful wedding!) But, I think Grant and Kiersten’s guests would agree that the most beautiful part of the Tomlins’ wedding day was how they kept the focus on Christ.
Between the way Grant and Kiersten have navigated their relationship while dating and engaged (Their first kiss was actually at the altar!), washing one another’s feet and allowing their parents to pray over them during their ceremony, and thanking God during their reception, there wasn’t a moment where you couldn’t feel God’s presence during Grant and Kiersten’s wedding day.
Grant and Kiersten, I pray you always keep Christ at the center of your marriage—just like you did on day one as husband and wife.
Grant and Kiersten began their wedding day on Saturday, July 11, 2020 by getting ready at Kiersten’s parents’ house. (There’s something really special about being able to get ready for your wedding in your childhood home. Just wait until you see Kiersten’s first look with her dad in front of the house she grew up in!)
Nate and Towana Troyer (Kiersten’s parents) have a beautiful property out in the country, and not only did it make a great space for getting ready photos, but we were also able to take lots of portraits on their land before Grant and Kiersten’s ceremony began at The Matterhorn.
After getting ready, soaking up their emotional first look, and taking bridal party photos, Grant and Kiersten and their family and friends headed to The Matterhorn so Grant and Kiersten could officially become husband and wife.
Like I said before, their ceremony and reception were Christ-centered (and brought tears to just about everyone’s eyes), and I can’t imagine a more beautiful way for two people to celebrate their marriage.
Grant and Kiersten, I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am for the two of you or how honored I am that you trusted me to be your wedding photographer!
Your wedding day was beautiful in every way, but I have no doubt that as long as you continue to love God most, your marriage will be even more beautiful.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Tomlin! I hope you love these previews from your wedding at The Matterhorn in Elkhart, Indiana!
Kiersten’s mom, Towana, is a hairstylist, so she did her daughter’s hair for her wedding day. How sweet is that?!
I just love that Kiersten got to do her first look with her dad in front of her childhood home! So special!
Grant and Kiersten saved their first kiss for their wedding day. So, this was their very first kiss!
Do you think Grant’s happy to be married to Kiersten?! LOL!
I love that Grant and Kiersten’s guests didn’t let having to wear masks prevent them from having a grand time on the dance floor!
I couldn’t help grabbing a photo with this sweet bride and groom!
