2020. Wow. Just wow.
There’s no way that any of us could’ve prepared for what this crazy year brought, but as I look back through the wedding photos that I had the honor of shooting this year, I’m reminded that I have so much to be thankful for.
When the world started to close in March and stay-at-home orders were put into effect, I went numb. I was fearful for my loved ones’ health. My heart broke for VRP brides and grooms and other couples whose weddings were affected. And, I was terrified for my business and livelihood.
But, despite my fears and doubts, God provided in big, unexpected ways—mostly through the incredible couples you see below (and the three who will now celebrate their weddings in 2021).
Planning a wedding is no easy task. And, on top of all of the stressors that naturally come with wedding planning, couples planning weddings in 2020 also had to navigate mask mandates, travel restrictions, gathering size requirements, social distancing protocols, and the countless other regulations that came with COVID.
Friend, these were just the logistical challenges. On top of all of this—and most importantly—couples had their loved ones’ health and safety to worry about.
I never imagined we’d live in a world where it was so difficult for a couple to become husband and wife and celebrate with the people they love. But, that’s what 2020 brought us.
Like I said, in March, I was terrified for Victoria Rayburn Photography. But, because VRP brides and grooms handled this year with so much grace that 2020 somehow ended up being the best year of business I’ve had yet!
I mean:
- All VRP brides and grooms graciously rescheduled their celebrations around my availability. I didn’t lose a single wedding!
- Many couples paid their remaining balances months in advance without me asking.
- Lost and delayed income was more than made up for through print and album sales.
2020 VRP brides & grooms, thank you. Thank you for being gracious, flexible, understanding, and thoughtful toward me, your other vendors, and your loved ones when we all know that this year was incredibly stressful for you.
I’m forever grateful for each and every one of you, and I’m so excited to share some of my very favorite wedding photos from this crazy year on the blog!
