There’s something very special about falling love with someone you’ve known your whole life. Dylan Christopher and Kamrin Bick grew up just a few miles apart, became high school sweethearts, and now, they’re getting married!
And, I’m so excited to share their fall engagement photos in Monticello, Indiana on the blog!
The Bicks and Christophers have been friends for as long as Dylan and Kamrin can remember. Both families showed cattle, and Kamrin and Dylan have lots of memories being in the cattle barn together.
As they got older, Kamrin and Dylan’s friendship didn’t fade. In fact, they only got closer as they realized how much they enjoyed hanging out even without their family connection.
Kamrin will tell you that she was interested in Dylan first, but when she was a sophomore and he was a junior in high school, Dylan had a girlfriend, so Kamrin laid low.
However, when Dylan was having a little relationship trouble, he texted Kamrin—one of his closest friends—to ask for advice.
Kamrin bravely responded with, “I’m sorry, but I can’t help you with this, because I don’t think you should be with her. I think you should be with me.”
Shortly after this conversation, Kamrin and Dylan went from lifelong friends to dating. They dated through the rest of high school and have been doing long distance for the past couple years while Kamrin has been finishing nursing school and Dylan has been in Monticello where he farms.
When Kamrin isn’t at school, Dylan and Kamrin spend much of their time hiking, camping, with family, and—of course—with their pups Oakley and Paisley.
And, now, they’re getting married!
For the 4th of July in 2020, the Bick and Christopher families decided to get together to celebrate the holiday. Or, at least that’s what Kamrin thought. Dylan had intentions!
While everyone was enjoying the gorgeous evening and just hanging out, Dylan asked Kamrin to stand up from her lawn chair.
“I was so confused,” Kamrin said when she and Dylan explained their proposal story to me. “I just wanted to sit down, but Dylan insisted that I stand up.”
When Kamrin stood, Dylan got down on one knee. They’d spent nearly all of their lives together at that point—first as childhood friends and then as boyfriend and girlfriend. In that moment, Dylan asked Kamrin if they could spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.
Like I said before, Kamrin and Dylan grew up just a few miles apart. As a result, their parents’ and grandparents’ properties hold a lot of memories for these two. (Plus, the properties are gorgeous!)
With this in mind, Kamrin and Dylan decided that they wanted to take fall engagement photos in Monticello, Indiana on the properties that mean so much to them and where they ran around as kids.
And, because they love their pups so, Dylan and Kamrin also decided to include their dogs, and I’m so glad they did! Just wait until you see the photos of Oakley and Paisley!
During Kamrin and Dylan’s engagement session, it became very clear to me how well these two complement one another. While Kamrin is very organized and type A (She and I have very similar personalities!), Dylan goes with the flow and is a true gentleman. I have no doubt that the life they share will be the perfect balance of spontaneous and planned.
In July 2021, Dylan and Kamrin will become husband and wife at Chalmers Community Church (in the same church where Kamrin’s parents got married) and will dance the night away with family and friends at Gathering Acres in Lafayette, Indiana.
I have no doubt that their dusty blue and soft yellow wedding will be both lovely and fun!
Dylan and Kamrin, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for trusting me to be your wedding photographer! I just adore you both and can’t wait to get you in front of the camera again on your wedding day!
In the meantime, I hope you love your fall engagement photos in Monticello, Indiana!
