I understand how much your wedding photos mean to you and how much work you’re putting into planning every last detail of your big day. As a VRP bride, you can relax and enjoy your wedding day knowing you’ve chosen a team of photographers who are just as detail-oriented as you are, will put thought into every shot, and will pay attention to all of the little details to ensure that you and your spouse love your wedding photos.
Alex and and Hannah Helton’s wedding day was just like the two of them: sweet, genuine, and thoughtful. It was such an honor to be their wedding photographer, and I’m so excited to share Alex and Hannah’s River Glen Country Club wedding in Fishers, Indiana on the blog!
Now, I could gush about countless things from Alex and Hannah’s wedding (like their sunflower bouquets and boutonnières, Hannah’s parents’ house being perfect for getting ready photos, Alex and Hannah’s super-fun bridal party, how incredible Hannah looked in her lace and satin dress, and how impressed we were with Rivers Glen’s customer service), but I think Alex and Hannah’s friends and family would agree that what stood out most about Alex and Hannah’s celebration was how the day was focused on the things that matter most: Alex and Hannah’s marriage and keeping Christ at the forefront.
For example, when Megan (my second shooter) and I arrived at Hannah’s parents’ house, we were almost shocked by how calm everyone was. I mean, Hannah and her bridesmaids were almost ready (They even had time to play a game with a balloon!); Hannah and Caroline (Hannah’s mom) had all of the bridal details ready for us; and Hannah—while eager to see and marry Alex—seemed at peace.
The rest of the wedding day was no different (Well, except when trying to take full bridal party photos as quickly as possible so grand entrances could be made!), and I think it’s safe to say that this is because (1) Alex, Hannah, and their loved ones’ hearts and minds were focused on the most important things and (2) everyone who knows Alex and Hannah’s story was grateful for the way it unfolded.
You see, Alex and Hannah’s love story is a story of doors opening and closing at exactly the right times, and there’s no doubt that God’s hands were at work with these Boilermaker sweethearts. (In case you’re wondering, Alex and Hannah did have the Purdue fight song played during their reception!)
You can read more of Alex and Hannah’s story here, but most notably, after finishing her undergrad, Hannah was applying to grad schools. She’s such an intelligent person, and when her top-choice schools didn’t admit her, it didn’t make any sense. (Hannah used to be in our City Group, and I remember being so sad for her during this season.)
However, after taking a year to work and applying to grad school again, Hannah found herself registered for grad school in the same city where Alex was already living and working in Michigan. What are the chances?!
More often than not, I feel like it takes decades to understand why something happens—if it ever does make sense at all. But, in Alex and Hannah’s case, it only took a couple years. And, on their wedding day, I think it’s safe to say that Alex and Hannah’s wedding day was calm and focused on the most important things, because Alex, Hannah, and their loved ones were simply grateful that God brought these two together.
Alex and Hannah, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer. You’re both such kind, genuine, and thoughtful people, and you can see your love for Christ in every aspect of your lives. I’m so glad that City of God and City Group allowed us to meet, Hannah!
I hope you love these previews from your sunflower-filled River Glen Country Club wedding, but I hope you’re loving married life even more. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Helton!
Hannah, you were a stunning bride!
Talk about the perfect August bouquet choice! These sunflower bouquets looked like sunshine and were so lovely with the bridesmaids’ teal dresses! Alex and Hannah wanted their ceremony to be an opportunity for their guests to hear the Gospel and about how God designed marriage to work. It was a beautiful ceremony and the most perfect way to become husband and wife! After the ceremony, River Glen had golf carts ready to take Mr. and Mrs. Helton away from the ceremony space and immediately to a shady photo location. This made “just married” photos so easy. Thank you, River Glen!
This was actually the second time I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a lot of this group. See more of this stunning bridal party in Grant and Kierstin’s wedding! I love that Purdue and Cru lead to such strong relationships among these awesome people.
Alex is a pro dipper, and other grooms should take note! He and Hannah had decided that they’d do a dip at the end of the song, but before Alex officially dipped her, Alex looked to see where I was to make sure the moment could be captured from a good angle. He’s an engineer through and through!
