Wanna know something that lights me up as a wedding photographer? When a former VRP bridesmaid becomes a VRP bride

I’ve known Megan Mussche for years, and I’ve had the pleasure of having her in front of the camera for family photos, her graduation photos, and as a bridesmaid in her brother and sister-in-law’s wedding

Megan is as sweet as people come, and she and her fiancé, Noah, are now a VRP bride and groom! I so loved hanging out with these two for their Fairfield Lakes Park and Purdue engagement photos, and I’m thrilled to share just a handful of my favorites from their engagement session on the blog!

Noah & Megan’s relationship was a good thing that came out of COVID.

Megan and Noah decided to take Purdue engagement photos, because their alma mater is where their story began. In fact, Megan’s very first memory of Noah is seeing him move in with what she thought was a mattress he brought from home. As it turns out, it was just a mattress cover, but Megan remembers thinking, “Wow. That’s a boujee move.”

Noah and Megan officially met not long after through Campus Ministry, and because they lived in the same apartment complex, they constantly seemed to be running into one another.

Megan and Noah started talking and went on their first date in February 2020. Then, when the world shut down about a month later, Megan, Noah, and their roommates decided to make the best of the situation and quarantine together—meaning they hung out in one another’s apartments playing games, cooking, and watching movies.

By the time the world reopened, Megan and Noah had made things official!

Now, I have to say that it just makes me melt thinking about Noah and Megan explaining the beginning of their love story 50 years from now. I mean, their love story took place during a historic time, and their story will surely be told for generations!

Noah told Megan he “wasn’t ready” to prevent her from getting suspicious about a proposal.

Fast forward less than two years later with the end of college in sight for both Megan and Noah, they began to talk about marriage.

Megan, who was already out of school and working full time, was hoping they’d get married as soon as Noah graduated from Purdue

As it turns out, Megan and Noah were on the same page, and Noah had even already asked for Megan’s parents’ blessing and was in cahoots with Megan’s mom to have a custom ring made from Megan’s grandmother’s ring.

However, Noah wanted Megan—who is a planner—to be truly surprised when he popped the question. So, Noah more or less told Megan, “I’m not ready. I’d actually like to live a year or two on my own before we get married.”

Megan was disappointed, but she respected Noah’s decision and chose to simply soak up their season of dating.

Not long after, though, Megan and Noah decided they needed some good photos together, so they picked a day to put Megan’s camera (Megan is a very talented photographer by the way!) on a tripod, visit Fairfield Lakes Park, and snap some photos.

After a few photos, however, Noah suggested that they take a walk. Megan was a little confused—since she was wearing nice clothes—but she happily obliged, and she and Noah walked along the trail.

As they walked, Noah told Megan, “I’m sorry. I lied. I do want to marry you soon.” (These might not have been Noah’s exact words, but you get the idea!) And, with these words, Noah got down on one knee by the lake and asked Megan to be his wife. In the meantime, friends hiding in nearby bushes caught the whole thing on camera!

While Megan was absolutely shocked that Noah had (1) proposed sooner than he said he would and (2) managed to make the proposal a complete surprise, she was even more astonished when they went back to Noah’s apartment to find their families and closest friends (some of whom had traveled all the way from Michigan and Tennessee) ready to celebrate with them!

Noah & Megan decided to take Fairfield Lakes Park & Purdue Engagement Photos, because both locations are sentimental to them.

Because Megan and Noah got engaged in late November, we had to wait a few months for Indiana to get pretty before we could take Noah and Megan’s engagement photos. (December-April in Indiana tends to be pretty brown.) But, I have to say I was looking forward to their shoot for MONTHS!

I mean, not only are Megan and Noah super sweet and notoriously well dressed (Megan and I are about the same height, and I’m constantly asking her where she finds her clothes, because she always looks flawless!), but their engagement session was particularly special, because they decided to use locations that are special to them.

We started Noah and Megan’s shoot at Fairfield Lakes Park in Lafayette, Indiana, which—as a reminder—is where Noah proposed.

Then, we dashed over to Megan and Noah’s alma mater in West Lafayette, Indiana to take their Purdue engagement photos. When we got to campus, Megan and Noah popped into a nearby building (a major plus of taking photos with civilization nearby) and quickly changed into more formal attire. We then finished Noah and Megan’s engagement photos in front of Purdue’s Engineering Fountain and Bell Tower.

I was excited about Megan and Noah’s big day before, but now, I can’t wait for their December 2022 wedding! I mean, between how kind they are, how detailed Megan is, and Noah’s engineer approach to everything (efficient and well executed), these two were a dream to have in front of the camera.

Congratulations, Megan & Noah!

Megan and Noah, while I am SO excited for your winter wedding at Allure on the Lake, I’m even more excited to see what God has in store for the two of you. I know you’re entering into marriage with Christ as your biggest priority, and I have no doubt that God will use your marriage in countless ways. I know your friends and family are excited to be part of this journey with you.

I’m so honored that you’re trusting me to be your wedding photographer, and I cannot wait to get the two of you in front of the camera again, but for now, I hope you love your Fairfield Lakes Park and Purdue engagement photos!

I actually met Noah for the first time at Chad (Megan’s brother) and LauraJane’s wedding. Noah seemed to fit into the Mussche family like he’d been there all along, and I was shocked to find out that the wedding was one of the first Mussche family events he’d attended!
