Best of Weddings 2021

Care to know a positive I’ve noticed after the last couple years of craziness? 

On wedding days, couples and their loved ones are more grateful, present, excited to celebrate, and likely to pack the dance floor! 

I never imagined that we’d live in a world where it would be so hard for a couple to get married surrounded by their loved ones, but COVID threw us for a loop. While the pandemic is by no means over and health and safety regulations are constantly changing, in 2021, my team and I had the privilege of photographing the first day of marriage for 19 VRP brides and grooms in Lafayette, Indiana; Indianapolis; Chicago; and just about everywhere in between. (We had 22 weddings on the calendar for this year, but three couples were forced to change their plans. We’ll celebrate with them soon!)  

I have to say that I am so proud of and thankful for each and every one of these couples. You see, planning a wedding is no easy feat under typical circumstances. But, on top of all of the stressors that naturally come with wedding planning, couples getting married in 2021 also had to navigate constantly changing mask mandates, gathering size requirements, social distancing protocols, vaccination policies, political opinions, and countless regulations.

And, these were just the logistical challenges. On top of this—and most importantly—couples had their and their loved ones’ health to worry about. 

This stress could’ve caused couples to lash out and be less than kind. However, I can honestly say that 2021 VRP couples handled the chaos with nothing but grace and sheer excitement to get married!

2021 VRP brides and grooms, thank you. Thank you for trusting me to be your wedding photographer and for being so gracious and thoughtful toward me, my team, your other vendors, and your loved ones. How you kindly handled the craziness of this year and kept your hearts and mind focused on what matters most—your marriage (and faith for many)—was truly an honor to witness.
